Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Blah blah blah

Not sure what else to say.

It’s all been said before. Company says lots of words but still sounds clueless. Managers and workers complain.

Wrong people eliminated, rely on who is left, and wonder why mistakes happen.

Hey BNY: you played your cards and this is what you’ve got.

Tech on a J curve so they must do something, but will it be the right thing. This does not feel successful so far, but time will tell.

I am in a section with a legacy system that must end, and this is as bad as it can get. BNY has no care for us, since we have no future here. Our section is dying a slow death. We stay because for many of us, the legacy tech is all we know. I suspect that the unhappiest people posting here are my fellow workers. Hopefully our pain will end very soon.

So many new people at the top, lots of abstract vision of where they want to go. But they don't know the people that made their parts of the business great. All they can do is work with metrics, so they miss so much that has been right here all along. We were a leader in our industry. But, Change! Numbers! Data!

They should start with their employees that made this company great. They can't even successfully manage their own workforce, so how can they manage the business? If their own employees don't trust them, how can their clients?

At a time when the company needs more loyalty from employees and clients, what are they thinking?

Well said. But its what BNY wants.... treat people like c-ap and hope they leave. Reduce the numbers and sell off lines of business. Implement more tech (pipe dream for charlie) and then more cuts. By the time investors realise charlie made a balls of it, he will have taken his cash and scuttled off.
