Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle "Design"

Wasn't this Oracle Design effort under the Seattle boutique design shop duo supposed to save SaaS and the rest. Senior Execs went about blaming UX for lost details to WorkDay in partic. Was it all BS, typical Oracle By Design?

If it smells fishy in Seattle...

No amount of lipstick, or money, will ever disguise or correct a lack of leadership.

Trust me on this. I’m old and wise. LE, in the other hand, is just old.

But our CEO, who’s tech skills end at being an Excel power user, looks at it and thinks the only issue is a bad UI. This is common for non-technical people. The only part of software they can reason about is what they can literally see. All the behind the scenes stuff is just magic to them. And that’s OK if you are only an end user. But such a superficial and shallow understanding if our own software from the person leading the company will prove fatal to us in the long run unless that person is replaced.

It's not just the CEO and LE. It's all throughout the company including my development manager. What an id–t that guy was. I completely rewrote the back end of an application, something that took enormous time to do, and he looked at a dialog that I didn't change because it didn't need changing and thought I hadn't done anything! What an airhead! It's NOT just at the top, it's all the way through development. No one in dev management knows what they are doing. Dumb-dumbs all the way. Up and down the entire hierarchy. Oracle will not recover, you can't recover when everyone who is in charge of development has absolutely no idea what they are doing!

Same old, sameold..... get out if you can. There is no reason to work at Oracle.

Totally agree. But it's not just SC. LE is also just as clueless. Every single decision he has made the past decade has been wrong. He totally missed the cloud. He thought hardware would be a good business to get into. He thought TK would be able to run a development organization. He thought CR could handle running a Support organization. He thought MH could sell. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Everyone of those decisions has come back to bite us. Cloud is essential to the success of any I.T. company now. Hardware is a total race to the bottom. TK only produced complete duds like FA. Our support has made us known as the "Comcast of I.T.", MH's ClassOf program has been an unmitigated disaster for our company. All of these decisions happened on LE's watch. He and he alone is responsible for putting so making so many bad decisions and continuously elevating people who have no hope of success into jobs they are totally unqualified for. SC is just one example of that.

Remember that at OOW2019, LE credited MMS with leading the effort. Smart but obsolete-understanding CTO thought right color lipstick would do the trick.

Lipstick on a pig.

This is the kind of problem you get when a completely non-techie tries to run a tech company. Anyone with a real technical background can instantly tell that FA is crippled by bad design at every level from the backend to the UI. If anything, the UI was the least of the problems with Fusion. (Not saying the UI isn’t bad, it’s demonstrably horrible. But all the tech under the hood is even more broken.) The entire architecture is a complete and hopeless mess that we will never be able to dig ourselves out from.
