Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

s-xual harassment laughed at

I am terribly sorry for all the folks who are being RIF’d. HON is awful and I hope you will find something much better. My life got a lot better when I left. You realize just how toxic it is there when you get away from it.

I was s-xually harassed by one of HON’s partners. It was bad. I told my boss and he laughed, saying, “That doesn’t surprise me”. He did nothing, and I suffered, having to continue working with the partner. I told HR. I submitted a memo. Nothing! Nothing was done, so I left. After I left, I raised it up to the previous CEO. An HR Director called me and they did nothing. I asked for an apology and a guarantee that is wouldn’t happen to anyone else. They couldn’t even do that. Sent me some legal jargon telling me they were done. HR was complicit. I know for a fact that I am not the only one.

You are better off without HON. Try Boeing Mesa, General Dynamics, Orbittal or Collins.

Good luck.

To the OP, now is the time to pursue this, if Honeywell wants to try and suppress you or bully you, the world will see them for the inhumane monsters they are. With the current social environment, Honeywell will bend over backwards to keep this under wraps. Get back in touch with your lawyer friend, and start hemming them up.

I know of the same things. The one and only time anything came of it was when someone called the ethics hotline. Then it became a big deal.

Sorry you went thru this. I went to an atty as well. They told me I would win, but, it would be 3x salary with 1/3+ to atty and that it would become common knowledge if it was lodged as a lawsuit, searchable and if I planned on working again for a Fortune 100 I wouldn't pass the background check as it would come up and I would be labeled. So I took a pass

Funny right? You call out a problem but that makes you an even bigger problem. Corp America.

ISC - when an inventory expires, dispose.

Now replace ‘inventory’ with ‘human’...

Viola, free HR process training! You’re welcome. Try not to expire...

I feel sorry that you were harassed. But I found out long ago the the HR department is only there to prevent management and the corporation from getting sued. HR is not here to help the individual contributor and will do what it takes , even screwing the individual, to ensure management and corporation are protected. Never go to HR, your life will get very complicated from there.

To the OP, am sorry you had to go thru that. I was in similar situation as yours, told my manager and didn't do anything. After a month, I asked the manager if something was done, nothing. I went to HR. I was not getting any feedback. I couldn't stomach the place anymore so I quit. HR should be called IR, theyre inhuman just like some managers there.

If it makes you feel any better men are abused way more at Honeywell. Specially during 1:1 with male employees, HON leaders don't feel constrained by any limits of decency. Constant daily abuse in the name of performance

I see HR as only the middleman between the sites and the lawyers. Every significant action I needed to enforce towards employee discipline went outside the site (legal) before anything progressed. While it was good to be fair with this process, 90% was pretty cut and dry. HR never really did anything to help me.

I made the original post here... yes, I tried to pursue legal action. I went to a very large law firm and talked to a partner, who was a friend of mine. He indicated that I would probably win (texts, HR memo and lots of witnesses) but added that I needed to be ready for HON to drag me through the mud and for it to be very expensive. At the time I was a single mom of a young child, and I did not want my child to have to deal with any of this. So I left HON. Now I wish I had sued as I know it happened to at least 3 other women. If I know 3, there are a lot more.

Sadly, HR exists only to protect the interests of the company from its workers. This is true all over, not just at HON. Decades ago in another industry, I was warned by caring coworkers not to report s–ual harrassment from several managers to HR because based on previous situations with others, it would end badly for me rather than for the managers. I took their advice and continued to handle the situations with wit and humor.

Since then, I've seen it play out the same way at different companies with different people, for different reasons. HR at an oil company paid a home visit to my SIL, who was on her 3rd round of chemo, to try to pressure her to retire after 19 productive years with the company. More recently, someone I interfaced with regularly at HON sought help from HR about a generally abusive boss and was let go, not the boss.

The takeaway: HR works for the company, not for us. If our needs are going to cost the company money or create too visible of a policy exception (ex: people who want to WFH for medical reasons), HR will side with the company line every time.

HR brushed this matter away? Wouldn't be surprised since the HR pack these days are so out of touch from the plight of workers in this company which is the very reason why they signed up for this job in the first place.
Witnessing the recent RIF that was carried it clearly shows that the HR lacks concern for the well-being of the company workers, avoids or neglects the plight of the workers being RIF and bears no responsibility of what happens to the workers being RIF in supporting them after they get their marching orders. The HR is nothing more than ensuring that Honeywell workers toe the line and preparing for RIF excercises. You can almost see their absolute devotion and active participation to reducing headcount during RIF seasons.
I do hope that the HR organization gets themselves RIF and replaced with more humane people. Of course, removing the top VP and Presidents will have to take place first to ensure that the HR isn't fazed by the greedy money munchers upstairs.

Did you pursue legal recourse? If this is true you should fight this.
