Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

No-win situation?

Wonder how or if recent events in the US (BLM and such) will impact Selections. Talk about a no-win situation for the selection team members! If a large portion of minorities is selected, reverse discrimination claims and if a large portion of minorities is not selected, perceived discrimination.

Also wonder how those who are posting on Workplace and non work social media to show support (both minorities and non-minorities) will be perceived during selections. I would venture that most of selection members are of the silent non-racist ilk, and we all know they like to bring out their bias when it comes who they think is “best” for the job.

stop with the victim mentality. Work hard. Place yourself in areas that are considered to be value added. Be professional and go beyond what you normally do and stop making derogatory comments. Take the high road. Always!

They check the % during every lay-off. Every company runs the numbers before they lay people off.

Same goes for ratings. Did you know diversity candidates have there own ranking. Did you know females have there own ranking. Trust me it’s overly swayed towards diversity and females having higher rankings then a an exact copy person ( - s-x - skin color)

When I was interviewing candidates for CVX we were told if you interview one person who looks like you then you have to interview 3 people who don’t.

Have no fear! Before selection is finalized, they run everything through a diversity checker to ensure no protected group is over-represented in the "left standing" group. Ask me how I know?
