"We're Number 1!!!"

Less than a week after LR, Cisco announces proudly they are #1 on the Worlds Best Workplaces List. Who voted??

Was made redundant 2 years ago, but it's not called that. Shower of sh– managers who cared more about nights out and expensive hotel team building events to fuel egos. To be frank if your not in sales prep your cv. #number 1 employer is dribble. Vr every year but never hits the press.

Cisco need not disclose these because they are treated as voluntary. so they don't even inform employment agency and this does not get counted in Unemployment numbers. Hence press does not know, no official number need to be disclosed.

This is ethically illegal. If some one has contact in Trump admin, should inform.

Wonder how many took LR, vs leave, vs Early exit or Nov 23? We never get the real numbers in these LR's, it's all smoke and mirrors.

I think they did the Early Retirement for 2 reason: Get the volunteers to go and cut the total HC reductions, but also important, get the older then 50 crowd (protected) people out so they can go after the over 50 crowd.

IE: There a legal limits in LR to protected employees so they have to stop at a limit on that category. This just made it easier to target them.

I started with Cisco out of college and left after 8 years. I was constantly told how great of a job I was doing and all I’d get as a grade 8 (new hires were probably making more than many of us at that point) was a 3% raise. Meanwhile you can’t get promoted either because the focal cycles for ICs were less common than a lunar eclipse. All the while the company was doing the best it had in ages, stock price included, and we had just repatriated all of those dollars.

The only people Fran and the ELT care about are the exec ranks. Anyone who thinks Cisco cares about them is being taken for a ride.

My advice is to drive down the road, get a 40%+ raise, and be able to make some money so that you can retire early and invest.

Just saw following post from Cisco employee on linkedin "Oops, we did it again. 2nd time in a row Cisco has been selected as number 1 workplace. So proud to be part of this amazing team of talented people." Funniest thing is I will bet a dime to a dozen that he/she will be included in next round of LRs. Lets see what he/she posts then

@1xnc remember - many folks gladly buy this GPTW story. it resonates.

In Hebrew - it's called chutzpah. I couldn't think of any other word when I saw this. You reallly do have to have bahls the size of coconuts to even have the audacity to do what ELT did during this check in. And that GPTW guy - gheez, so "used car". Fail.

Today’s checkin was odd. They’re not entirely blind, and understand that moral took a hit after the recent cuts. So why with the exuberance, the balloons, banners? Appears like a “party” that none of us were invited to. Why try so hard to display & reinforce this status award to THIS audience?

Can’t make whether it’s just a clown car full of tone deaf, or a means of sowing further discontent and cheaper headcount reductions (resignations).

I’ve been here for nearly 10yrs, and >30k have been LR’d. Gets to be expensive after a while, and not enough cake for everyone, Milton.

Nothing like being in the middle of the early retirement stuff mid-September, anxiously awaiting the upcoming RIFs, and seeing an email coming about about welcoming the new hires... Talk about tone deaf...

id love to have a company wide meeting where people on this forum just rip apart all the a– kissers that s— up to ELT in these meetings. They act like ELT are their favorite celebrity or that anyone outside of tech gives a rat's a– about some career nerd at cisco.

No idea on how Cisco can be #1 place to work with all of the things that the ELT does. They did not even acknowledge the LRs in 2 internal meetings. Just laughing it all off. Then pawns are the one's who have to deal with the mismanagement at the top. The BOD needs to seriously question the ability of the current ELT.

Interesting timing because this time last year when there was an LR, Cisco announced it was the #1 Workplace in the world shortly after. Back in the day employees were regularly surveyed about working at Cisco, but haven't seen those surveys recently so I do question where this #1 vote came from.

Gotta admit it takes some really big B*!!S to flaunt this paid-for award in the wake of the layoffs...and don't be mistaken, ALL of them were layoffs. You can try to hide it under the guise of early retirement all you want, but it's all part of the same hypocrisy. Have spoken to many friends who remained loyal only to get the axe this time around. #1 PLACE TO WORK...REALLY?! SMFH

"Isn't all this $hitshow actually playing into millennials' and younger folks mentality and they really like it ?"

What a ridiculous statement. Millennials are in their thirties with houses, families, and are trying to build careers. What's next, a participation trophy comment? You clearly fail to understand why employees are jaded and feel little towards "team spirit" or loyalty. As the yearly layoffs show, there is no such thing and those loyal, veteran employees are among the first to go every time. There is no incentive to invest in a company that routinely decides employees are worth less than the board's stamp of approval.

People who haven't worked here before see all the shiny PR and look to Cisco for growth and stability. Nobody is celebrating the loss of mentors and collective decades of institutional knowledge. There are no cheers when thousands of people are cut every year. If they managed to avoid the LR (or avoid getting outright cut in the case of red badges), they're waiting to see if they're next on the chopping block come January and every quarter after.

To top it all off, while we watch coworkers being carted away and see the executioner getting ready for end of Q2, the ELT puts on a song and dance to tell us how wonderful it is to be here. How we've developed a culture of inspiration and caring by sticking to our principals as a company. How employees are the unbreakable spirit of Cisco. Right.

Isn't all this $hitshow actually playing into millennials' and younger folks mentality and they really like it ? From what I could see they mostly have zero empathy, are totally self-obsessed, tend to think that someone owns them a recognition, promotion and raises and if they don't get it after a few months of work then they will rebel like h3ll ? Plus they seem to mostly lack any team spirit, it's all "me, me , me !". I think they are having fun now seeing many senior, knowledgeable employees getting the boot and they might be taking these idi0tic jokes, fun and games at the Chuck-ins as a wink to them from ELT "hey guys see how we get rid of these old farts and you know you will be taking their places" ? Change my mind it's not the case !

At least this is a public layoff. Imagine getting hit by one of the quarterly stealth layoffs, and reading about how Cisco is the #1 place to work. That might cause a stroke.

What a slap in the face for those affected by the LAYOFF. Also, TN is a nimrod tool at best and MM is the most overpaid exec in tech.

Reminder that ER was a LAYOFF.....Cisco lawyers tried to avoid age discrimination lawsuits which will not work this time based on recent court wins favoring the employee

This is the most disgusting display I have seen in a while. That the ELT would think paying for a fake award claiming they are the #1 place to work after laying off thousands and expecting "the unwashed masses" would be okay with it is beyond arrogant. The only thing missing is Fran Poppins cheerfuly saying "Let them eat cake". Just sick.
