Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Great company going through some changes...

Worked for Chevron most of my career. Truly a great and well respected company. Feels like management is doing it's best to navigate uncharted waters. You can feel a shift that focuses on immediate, short-term returns and away from reserve volumes (quality or quantity). Hence, the focus on shale production and the elimination of virtually all MCPs.

The employees are very professional and capable. There is the occasional sh*t-heal or obscure job position that adds little value. Feels like they are doing their best to change that, like gutting all of PRC (adult babysitters?) and CPF (redundant ETC positions without charge codes) and eliminating ridiculously over-paid ex-pat positions. More to cuts to come for sure, especially once FGP starts ramping down next year

@fsqm, Not sure where you've been all these years but we've never gotten so called "Retirement Gifts" unless the members of your team pitched in an gave you one personally. All we've ever officially gotten are the service award gifts that you mentioned and they are, in essence, "retirement gifts". Nothing has changed, and this is more than most companies officially give.
Nothing to see here. Nothing new. Not news. Move along kiddies.

It used to be a very good company. Now it's more brown noses and a– kisses than ever. Only people who got jobs after the re-org were these types. And, it will continue to go downhill. They didn't offer any retirement gifts to those leaving (after 30+ years) and people had to request a service award gift if they were entitled to it after 25+ years. Mike W. could have required all leaders to pay employees a parting retirement gift. But the old adage, Exec Leaders don't tell the business units how to run the business has allowed employees with many years of service to walk out the door with so much as a "THANK YOU". UNGRATEFUL for all the time, dedication and hours that were put in by me and many others. I'm so happy I left. Company S—s.

It was a great Company not just a good Company. But it did and still does require an immense amount of Brown Nosing and kissing butt. You can choose two alternatives. One kiss butt and brown nose or two you’re out. I made it 36 years. Guess which alternative I chose!

Thanks Mike W. Glad you are happy with your pay. Most people do not make 100th of your pay in the company and work 100 times more.
