Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

STOP! Nobody at Nike cares about you. Care about yourself so at least there will be one person who does.

Stop looking at leaders as if they are special people that care about you so much that you are inspired by them. They get paid more, hopefully have more skills and experience to set direction and communicate it in an inspiring way, but that's it. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. And that's OK. What's not OK is to pretend that we work at a special place changing the world with great leaders. We make disposable footwear and apparel and market the heck out if it to make people think it is something special and that we are a special brand. If you haven't noticed, the Execs keep getting richer and the pay and benefits for the plebs keep getting less. Remember back when U bands got stock options? Remember when the stock split and the next year the E bands got half the number they got the year before and U bands stopped getting them at all?

Nike is a microcosm of the real world. There are "haves" and "have nots." Once you accept that and the fact that you are a "have not" and that the leaders don't care about you because there are plenty of people outside the berm who would love to take your place, you will be in a better state of mind and you will make time to take care of yourself.

OP, agreed. Leadership at Nike is not that type of leadership. Honestly, I have not seen a single ELT member that I would want to care about me anyway. There is something that I absolutely despise at Nike and that is two-faced people. First, they pretend to care about you and say they will support you, for example, exploring different opportunities at Nike. However, the moment they realize you are serious and are in fact within a real touching distance from being offered a new role, they make your life a living hell with all sort of border-line unethical questions. I am convinced that they will even do what they can to jeopardize your move because they are small minded and believe that it reflects badly on them when one of their "team members" decides to go else where. Sadly, this not even the first time I am dealing with the same situation. I'll never give up though....bring on the bad leaders; we know how to deal with them.
