Stop looking at leaders as if they are special people that care about you so much that you are inspired by them. They get paid more, hopefully have more skills and experience to set direction and communicate it in an inspiring way, but that's it. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. And that's OK. What's not OK is to pretend that we work at a special place changing the world with great leaders. We make disposable footwear and apparel and market the heck out if it to make people think it is something special and that we are a special brand. If you haven't noticed, the Execs keep getting richer and the pay and benefits for the plebs keep getting less. Remember back when U bands got stock options? Remember when the stock split and the next year the E bands got half the number they got the year before and U bands stopped getting them at all?
Nike is a microcosm of the real world. There are "haves" and "have nots." Once you accept that and the fact that you are a "have not" and that the leaders don't care about you because there are plenty of people outside the berm who would love to take your place, you will be in a better state of mind and you will make time to take care of yourself.
