Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike should leave this decision to manager discretion

I think Nike is considering a hybrid work model where you work some days remote and some in the office. But I wonder if Nike understands that for many of us a hybrid work model is more of a pain in the rear than working 100% on-site or 100% remote. I don’t want to have to maintain two separate work areas. Especially since I’ll have to haul a bunch of crud with me every time I switch locations, like some type of traveling nomad. I already have enough stress in my life without Nike adding the additional stressor of me working from two different places.

Rather than develop a blank corporate policy Nike should leave this decision to manager discretion. Nike: please let my manager do her job of managing me. She doesn’t need your “help” in determining whether I can or cannot be effective working remotely.

I couldn't agree more, @2sjo+1aIZl0yE.

Already applying to remote jobs. 50% pay increases too.. NIKE is making a huge mistake cutting budgets & trying to force people back to office at the same time

I already applied to a out of state job that is 100% remote. If moved forward i'll get a 25k pay increase from what my job is now at Nike as a ETW. I honestly don't see a future at Nike, from all the bu-----t I've gone through as " ETW". I wont hang around to " extended". Nike is a cult.... Plain and simple.

Nike is your typical Command & Control organizational setup. Leadership needs the things that signal the power structure they've established to justify their existence. Things like where you park, how you look, where you sit, etc. don't translate to a remote working setup.

Nike is going to spend a lot of time and money backfilling roles if they don’t get their heads out of the sand. We’ve already lost numerous talented members on my team because of Nike leadership’s refusal to give us any level of certainty. Many others I know personally are applying for remote roles, in anticipation that Nike will make us return to campus. We already struggle with recruiting top talent, because people don’t want to live in Oregon.

We’ve all been effective working from home. If Nike forces us to be on campus, it’s certainly not with our well-being or quality of life in-mind.

This is the most spoiled 'first world problem' complaint I've ever heard. There are about 700 people that would happily take your spot and lug their laptop back and forth from work. Poor you.
