Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I left AT&T 2 years ago

I hired in 1997.

The benefits were great. The pay made you upper middle class because you did not have to pay outrageous healthcare costs.

Now I hear the pension that many came to work for is being attacked. I am disgusted how employees who worked 25-30 years had hopes of walking away with healthcare and a pension that would help them in terirement.

You have to work until you are 65 to pay into overpriced healthcare. The union really laid an egg. I have no idea why anyone pay those union dues.

The best thing for you all is to walk away.

That last contract was a g-n punch. This company is making you pay outrageous healthcare plans that are tripled than other companies and very least double.

As long as you show up and take it they will keep taking more.

You can find happiness elsewhere.

Take what you have now and leave that place. There are other jobs hiring and much better benefits without paying useless union dues.

Honestly the slackers are happy collecting a check but don't realize the financial losses you are taking there.

It is a bloodsucking company and the union is just as bad.

I feel for every person that gave their time. This is not the bell companies that took care of employees.

To make matters worse they are in debt despite making billions in profiteer yearly.

They get what they deserve. Failed leadership made bad choices for the last 15 years.

Walk away happy

Don't blame T, blame your Union. You had the chance and signed on the dotted line.

Most people including myself retired from BellSouth/AT&T multi-millionaires. It is not hard when you start early.

On the Union side of the house, I hear that pre-Medicare health remains intact. There is an answer to post retirement health care, at least for the currently healthy, and that is to pick the high deductible health plan and finance an HSA.

Not doing that was a big mistake I made. It turned out, the difference in the deductibles was offset by the difference in the employee premium (cost sharing). I found I would have to run $20K in health expenses for the low deductible plan to make sense. HSAs can be used to pay Medicare Part B premiums. I didn't do the math when I should have. Do the math.

Come 2024, who knows what the landscape will be for post Medicare retirees, but I'm going to assume it will be the AT&T Med Advantage plan, and maybe a continuation of the AON dental and vision, but I'll be shelling out for Medicare Part B.

I thought we were past the child labor laws of the 20s? Why would anyone join a union? Is there any unionized industry in America, that has NOT been destroyed by a union? At some point in time, you have to put on your big-boy pants and think for yourself (or not). Keep-on truckin'!

A little dramatic... AT&T continues to help produce lots of millionaires/multi-millionaires. Of course, many people have no sense of managing money and delaying gratification; you guilty folks are difficult to help.

It's hard to tell whether the original post was written by second rate AI or a maroon.
