Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

A message from WB and RD

My first post was deleted, so we're doing this again...

Management must think we're all mo--ns, based on the messaging received at BTCX this morning.

Despite their assurances that the assessment process is completely unrelated to workforce reduction, most (if not all) recipients of an NSI last year are no longer with the company.

They claim the process is used to recognize and reward employees, yet we haven't received any pay bumps in the past two years, and inflation is through the roof.

Lastly, their inconsistent and two-faced approach is only doing one thing - encouraging talented and aware employees to wise-up and leave the company before sh-t gets worse.

Folks, management has revealed their hand. They're scared shitless about a good percentage of employees calling their bluff and deciding to leave for greener pastures. Their attempts to stem the bleeding, like the newsletter we received this morning, will accomplish nothing, when there are no concrete actions being taken to improve the situation.

Why else would the company be hiring employees at BTCX if they still maintain the 15% headcount reduction target? Sh-t must be pretty bad.

Pack your bags and get out before this farce collapses.

Run, do not walk, as fast as you can and get out. This place is so toxic that I feel like I am finally leaving a cult! Make your own choices and put yourself first.

If you are young and reading this, please get out while you can. Sometimes, I feel like I wasted years of my life hoping that the work environment would be better in the next role. Waiting it out was also advice of older people and mentors who drank the koolaid. More than four years later and the situation is worse than ever.

Finding a healthy workplace is important long term and the toxicity at Exxon is not worth the money (you have your whole life to make money, and other industries pay better).

Supervisors are spineless against the bureaucracy and have benefited from the backwards forced ranking system, do not trust them to be transparent or supportive. In the end, they will sl------r their own team if it saves them their own jobs.

Everything that comes out of a managers mouth is a self serving lie, period! Do NOT believe anything they tell us, they have lied and deceived us at every turn and at every forum for the last two years. Why do they do this? Because they believe they are the best and the brightest and that we are d-mb and d-mber. WAKE UP PLEASE, and take care of yourselves and your families on your terms not on ExxonMobil terms.

Just got out of a meeting with my SLS... they echoed the same comments.

Part of me wants to believe the statements made, but the other half can't honestly believe any off the bu-----t these people tell us.

If the performance assessment cycle really didn't have anything to do with headcount management, why is the NSI target elevated compared to previous years? Why is it the same as last years, if the company acknowledges that they have an attrition issue?

On top of that, this does nothing to inspire hope regarding TMTS. If I understand how TMTS is supposed to work, we still have too many site engineers to fit the new business model, so in the end half of the site roles will be swallowed up by Malaysia and India.

This is a lukewarm attempt at best - agree with OP, time to pack your bags and leave.
