Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoffs RIF coming Q4

Just had team meeting here in northeast. There will be a reduction in force in many segments of the business.

Off the books by end of year.

Return of mini VSP times. They are fattening the calf before the sl------r. They recently promoted in other teams well. Those who are left behind can be happy that some got promoted and so they won't feel that bad

Eventually most of IT will be a skeleton crew primed to be handed over to a vendor.

Business has worked with India and knows how difficult it is. And last thing they need is to work with a vendor from India.

This is also the reason business has ramped up hiring their techs all through the pandemic

In the Network Operations side they just promoted around 8 people. We were told by our manager we won't be impacted and that then changed to they aren't sure if we will be impacted since we are already at minimum

From where I am sitting, the 2 worst things that ever happened was when Verizon Wireless merged with Verizon and when Hans was hired.

No person NEEDS to make $20 million a year, especially at the expense of their workers. Hans needs to go and someone who values their employees and the work they do needs to be put in charge.

Our nation may be divided lately but I do believe the one thing we all agree on is that it's past time to keep businesses here in the US. The entire business community needs to stop getting rid of the workers here. Shop local, buy local, be loyal to local - by local I am talking about the United States.

Accepting poor leadership has plagued this company. All we are left with is yes people

You rise to the level of your incompetence here and so Nepotism, Favoritism, Wowism, many more isms are the norm

How sad for people to accept RIF as part of the company culture. Time to look beyond

First fact of life: RIFF's have always been part IT/GTS life. How small or big is matter of how much of the budget needs to be cut. Throw whatever numbers you want at it - 10, 15, 25, 30%... You will only know the real number after the fact. Those cuts can come in many forms - volunteers, contractors, unfilled positions, and/or employees.

Second fact of life - always be prepared for a riff, only a matter of time.

@8mci+1cPtrJd6 that boat sailed with the VSP/ESP. The next rebadge, if there is one (is there anyone left to rebadge??), will be a take it or leave it.

@7ugl+1cPtrJd6 This is in line of the idea to get rid of all US IT via RIF or rebadging. I hope they give people the offer to quit with a package than be forced to work for a slave driver hired by the plantation owner

If there is a RIF, it will be interesting to see what the GTS RIF list looks like.

GTS was able to replace the majority of its IT workforce with workers in/from India.

GTS is now in the process of getting rid of all non-India based IT Vendors/Contractors.
The only two IT Vendors/Contractors that have been selected to remain are Infosys and
another one in India.

Somehow, none of this has been seen as discrimination or a conflict of interest.

Maybe this is because GTS Execs forced the few remaining non-Indian Directors/Managers to process/sign all of the paperwork necessary to send all of the work to India in order to hide the discrimination/conflict of interest.

I'm guessing that any upcoming GTS RIF will probably not include VZ employees in or from India.

Unless they plan to RIF many of the VZ India employees and replace them with Infosys employees.

Sucking up to your “leadership” team and getting promoted to customer anyways. It’s almost poetic.

The only constant with Verizon is cr---y political managers who engage and thrive with endemic nepotism and continuous RIFs.

If the bullet with your name on it finds you with this round of RIFs, accept reality, be thankful for all that you learned from your experiences and move forward / do not look back. A year from now you will thank your lucky stars you finally escaped the VZ dumpster fire, toxic culture and incompetent managers. A much better life post VZ is calling you, believe that!

Verizon Enterprise Services (VES) is bloated and a minimum 30% RIF sounds about right.

They are a group of overrated primadonna's who sit around and wait for orders to come in. Wireless is the future and where all the $$ should be invested.

Great. Our 4G LTE network is the best (take a bow) and our 5G pocket network works great in stadiums and warehouses. Never mind a RIF. The stock price has been going in the wrong direction all year. I'm beginning to think we are a non-profit without the formal designation. Time to make changes starting at the top then the non performing executive team. They all need to be held accountable.
