Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What is future of BTC ?

  1. Early Hires are frustrated as they are not getting exposure.
  2. Experienced hires are scared as there no job security. Once EH or MSP are ready to do job their job they know they will be gone in next round.
  3. MSP want to get rid of BTC so they can directly deal with PU.

I am one of above I don't know what to do next?

They will probably shutdown KLTC first before BTC. So you’ll are in safe hand.

In any scenario, BTC is there. Think and you’ll come to same conclusion. Rest is noise by the disgruntled

The entire BTC concept is bound for failure, added hundreds of BTC XOM employees, ramping up expats while the hundreds of MSPs are doing most of the work, sounds like a winner right? Remember BTC produces zero profit unless you count the “value captures”, also remember the entire BTC/MSP Cost are billed out to business units. So even more over head for the actual business units to carry.

In addition, BTC employees now see the evils of the “new” assessment cycle. Those who survive will be fighting for the slim chance of an expat assignment and/or multiple business trips which most were promised during recruitment. How’s that working out?

Combine all of the above with a weak, self centered leadership team and what do you get? Certain, prolonged failure.

It is true.
There are now certain penguins on the famous Falkland Islands.
I am not sure of the specific group, but they apparently have learned Agile from birth!
Hopping rocks, dodging waves, eating their mother's regurgitations.
Perfect for EM.
Them and the robots - the future.

BTC will have the same cycle as every other GBC… low cost leader for IT and other functions. As India’s economy rises and labor costs increase, jobs will begin shifting to the next low cost location.

OP, consider BTC as a check-box in your career and plan to move on.
ExxonMobil, the check-box:
Old multinational that everyone has heard about.
They used to be somebody.
I checked it out.

CSR Crusader is back. Welcome back and thanks for reminding everyone about the bitter reality. BTC is a service center and will always be a service center.

@con+1d05bs3e you got some resentment towards CSR. Where did they hurt you? The hate runs pretty deep with you. If you look around you will realize all of EMRE are pretty much the same

BTC’s future is same as Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) in Clinton, New Jersey. Both are full of second grade useless employees.

One place exists to use and abuse low grade workers for cheap labor without worrying about the long term quality and safety so Houston executives can ride a silver train to their retirement.

The second place CSR exists to employ brainless incompetent people who are otherwise unemployable at other places, for the sole reason to allow Dallas claim some brownie talking points about clean energy and environmental friendly research (non of which CSR employees are capable of conducting themselves due to their lack of brain development).

Jump now. The company doesn't have any intention to change anything for you. Ask your fellow BTC HR, F&L, EMIT, Procurement, SSHE, Upstream employees and you will know.

I would say if you are in ANY non core function at BTC jump off now while the job market it hottt! Regardless of what XOM says you won't a a good, long, bright future with the company. If you don't believe me pick up the call and talk to you peers at other GBCs in KL, BA, Curitiba, Hungary, Bangkok, and learn from them as to how stagnant their careers have been and how once blooming place is now dreadful. And of all why continue slavery where you all know that the mgmt. Just doesn't care about people.
