New Job Families in Tech

I work with a bunch of Analytic Consultants in Tech (we got mapped into Tech recently). Due to our unique situation and the fact that we don't easily align to any of the new Tech and Data Job Family positions, I can decide how these people get mapped within reason. So I'm trying to figure out which position(s) will have the fewest headwinds in the days to come.

The positions I'm considering for these people include: Senior Data Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Senior Tech Business Systems Consultant (P3 for any of these positions).

I'm sure I'll map different people to different positions based on what they actually do (as I should). However, there is some flexibility and I'd like to know what the general consensus is.

Are any of these positions more or less likely to be targeted for layoffs in the next year or two? If the answer seems obvious to those in Tech, please remember that I'm new here.

I would think shifting to the cloud would hurt the Data Engineering and Management family but I could be wrong.

I was a 5. Now I'm a 2.

WTF?

My pay is the same (but now I'm WAY above my midpoint, where I was below midpoint before).

And my job is the same. Heck, I'm better at it now than I ever was.

I didn't do anything wrong, and they've always let on that they were happy with me.

I don't get it....

I went from a 6 to a 4 - if I could get down to a 3, I wouldn't be expected to be in the office three days a week - aside from that, I don't much care what they call me.

This was a cute game they played. I was a 5 under my 2019 job title. Then they take away the 5 in 2020. Now I am a P3.

Nice sly demotion.

Engineering roles are the "safest"

Every communication has said that individual managers will have no say in employee mapping and it’s done at a higher level. That and everyone already is mapped.

so you come to a layoff site asking for advice on how to do your job? this must be fake as everyone has already been mapped and it shows up on Job Mapping in Personal info effective 12/1

The lowest level (P1) all are Base Position + "Associate".
P2 - is the base position with no adjectives (Data Engineer, Software Engineer, etc)
P3 - Tack on "Senior" to P2.
P4 - Tack on "Lead" to P2.
P5 - Tack on "Senior Lead" to P2 for the most part.

Serious question: are any of these new job titles not labeled “senior” for the lowest level?
