I would post an article on Flagscape that I'm afraid I don't have enough to retire, and ask for a Merrill advisor to help me get to the $4 million they say I need to retire.

Now we're talking partner, concentrate on green initiatives and climate change. Also, set up a few off-shore accounts and a non-profit organization for some 'charitable' work using buzz words like children, poverty, education...stuff like that.

Buy a modest homestead not far from a population center and live off the land. VERY EASY CHOICE!

If I had a million dollars, well, I'd buy you a K-car, a nice reliant automobile.

Pffft...a million dollars. That's just gas money, food and rent for a few years (and that's assuming that things will not get worse).

One million dollars net?

  1. Become debt free with a little less than $300k of it.
  2. Invest $500k of it, so I have 'some' sort of estate to leave.
  3. Take a 6-month break from work. It isn't likely I'll see retirement age... That's minimum 10 years away and I may be gone within the next year or two. Or next week. Who knows. I just want to have a little fun, for a few months, just once in my life.
