Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

DW thoughts on attrition

From earnings call:

And then obviously, as attrition has occurred within our company and the industry more broadly and across the economy as a whole, we've been very thoughtful and cautious about what positions we fill and how we manage that attrition, again, continuing to think through opportunities to get more efficient and take advantage of the attrition to make sure that we're managing our staffing in line with what we see as the ultimate opportunity. When you put all that together, we feel like we're in a fairly good position to execute this and not have the kind of, you know, one-off large redundancy programs that we went through in 2020.

Tens of thousands of employees are hoping every day that DW becomes part of the attrition.

People wonder why the company is not doing more to stop attrition. Darren just explained why. Attrition for him is a help; not a hindrance. Ultimate opportunity = less employees

The first part is not true. History will tell us exactly who and how bought the snake oil that consultants have sold to Dallas, but EM top “leadership” made their own choice. Everybody in the industry has had layoffs, but nobody else decided that getting rid of experienced technical employees altogether and sending their jobs to low cost countries is a viable solution. This huge blunder will be a major case study in future textbooks. DW can’t be just a bystander in this mess.

The choice is yours! Present and future XOM is clearly very different than past XOM. If you value ok pay, job stability, and long career then XOM isn’t a good choice anymore. If you are enjoying the ongoing brainwashing process from the day you joined the company as well as the toxic work environment along with the unfair forced ranking system and terrible culture then go back to my first statement! The choice is yours!

DW just doing what he is told, just like us. Only difference is after he hits his numbers, he gets to ride off into the sunset with his goofy smug expression and 100s millions of dollars.
