Why employees are leaving

This week the VP of my area did a townhall

One of the items mention was that Exxon is trying to understand why employees are leaving and why we can’t retain new and experience people more than 3 years

Besides that this just confirm they live in another reality. Are they waiting for a power point with explanation??? WTF

My group has lost 4 engineers in the past 9 months. This group has never had an engineer quit.

This is not normal attrition.

50% of our employees quit ExxonMobil Corporation before they reach five years of service. This has been happening for 15+ years.

50% employee retention after 5 years of service is a trend in all integrated oil & gas & petrochemical industries around the world especially those that only only offer a 401K retirement plan only.

The people leaving in large numbers from Western affiliates make EM Executives happy. Helps them meet their headcount targets.

The do not like the high BTC attrition.

This is ridiculous. I honestly believe that the management committee, the board of directors, all company presidents and VPs MUST go see a otorhinolaryngologist because they have hearing problems. The employees at all levels have been shouting at them for years now why they are leaving. Things like treat us with respect, don't try to fool us by disguising a layoff under a so called lack of performance (PIP), don't treat us like id--ts, we are trying to keep this company existing so please don't reorg all the time to please some manager or president or whoever, please don't lie to us in our faces we can see that you are lying, you've just made billions of dollars in profits please don't keep NSIng us to lower costs (you are making out like bandits already) we are also working our butts off to try to keep the company alive. If you keep treating us like sh-t we will keep leaving. The company is already having huge problems recruiting new employees and we are short on people everywhere. The work is not getting done on time because we don't have the people. Please, understand it.

They absolutely understand why folks are leaving. They just don’t want to do anything about it because the answers aren’t quick and easy and don’t benefit the top dogs and the shareholders. So they’ll keep asking, hoping for a different answer, till it’s too late.

Maybe you shoukd have direct the VP to this forum so that he/she can know why people are leaving....this is the thing...i believe many people in management are not willing to accept the toxic working culture environment....good employees don't complaint...they just leave...
