Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Can somebody confirm?

Layoffs happen every August at Cisco. About 5-6k people. Has happened that way every year for at least the last 7 years. They just rotate which teams.

I haven't been here long enough to know if this is true or not. Are there really major layoffs every August?

Recent former Cisco refugee. Lack of authenticity in these posts. No layoff announcements. To quote Biggle “stop your blood clot crying”.

without red badges, cisco would have been toast 15yrs ago. cisco can chop 40% of blue badges and still be able to function, its stock would jump 30%. maybe we need a red badge ceo like msft did before converting him to fte.

Red badge cuts aren't called 'layoffs', those subhuman, non-employees don't count.

They are not called layoffs people! They are called billion dollar restructuring plans, no one is getting laid off. It's simple math.

ELT pretend like if employees forget everything that was said from previous C Lives. No mandatory jabs, No LRs, blah blah blah it's time to leave.

There was a large LR in August 2013, and probably 2 or 3 more since then, not counting the infamous voluntary LR/ER/reduced work week of 2 years ago.

Chuck said in today's Check-in: "there are no LRs being planned as far as I know, currently". The keyword is "currently".

Whoever wrote "The big layoffs you're talking about are history from the John Chambers era" is incorrect. There were no layoffs between 1995 (when I started) and 2001. The first layoff under Chambers' watch was in April 2001. The most frequent layoffs were and have been under Robbins' watch, typically near the end or at the start of the FY. That being said, CR said no LRs on today's Leader Check In.

"Stealth layoffs" are the game. Happen regularly around this time every year.
Typically before people are asked to register for IMPACT, which saves trouble to unwind.

Chuck had also said “no layoffs” on live TV in 2020. 4 months later came the mother of all layoffs, 10-15% bundled into forced ERs, LRs and stealth jabs. And while announcing that Chuck and Fran laughed their heads off - on live TV as well. Thee people have no self respect, no honour and absolutely no humanity. The ELT must find sending people to unemployment queues hilarious as he-l.

The big layoffs you're talking about are history from the John Chambers era. I had no problem with that, you knew it was coming. The rest of the year pretty much few or no layoffs.

Not very agile but very predictable.

There are not major layoffs every August that would destroy the brand. Cisco conducts three different types of layoffs:

Large layoffs: 5,000 (public announcement the day before)
Small layoffs: 2,500 (public announcement the day before)
Stealth Layoffs: 120 (no announcement)

Stealth layoffs occur quarterly, you might notice an entire team missing without an announcement. Historically small layoffs occur annually with a large layoff every 4 years. It's all about preserving the brand.
