Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T job cuts coming, no doubt they follow other tech companies

Oracle just announced their recent round of cuts, all the tech companies, have a pretty good heads up regarding market conditions an demand, and are starting their cuts T is in a similar space, I expect right after Labor day (ironic) we'll start seeing the announcements.

They need to outsource the HVD team. All of them are totally helpless, aside from a couple actually know what they are doing.

Offer volunteer severance packages and see how many bite.

I'll gladly volunteer.

I've been doing the absolute bare minimum required to not get written up or fired for years now waiting for a severance option.

Until then, they're gonna get out of me exactly what they give ME, a decreasing amount each and every year

T currently has 172k employees, post WB separation. Nonetheless. We still have a lot more employees than VZ.
It’s always upper mgmt first, then the rest of us on the chopping block

Verizon revenue per employee is about $1M. AT&T revenue per employee is about $0.77M.

if the goal is to get productivity parity with Vz (as articulated by Bill Morrow) T may have to reduce by 47K over some duration.

Data:
T : # of employees 203K, Revenue $156B
Vz: # of employees 130K. Revenue $134.33B

AT&T would like to get close to the same number of employees as Verizon has, which is currently a little under 120,000. AT&T will probably never get that low, but that's what they would like since the company we are most comparable with is Verizon.

How many employees do you think T wants to do without?

Every one that's below the level of AVP that is not offshore.

"I think you're wrong about T going through the worst downsizing T has ever seen! Been with T for almost 4 decades and it has been gradual over time. Besides, T currently has only around 200k. How many employees do you think T wants to do without? "

The Stink would like to get rid of all employees but himself, the BoD he controls, and a few of his Pajama Party good buddies!

When the minimum 15% corporate tax passes everyone better look for cover

Oh there will be loopholes in the law big enough to drive a truck through. tax impact on places like T will be minimal. Corporate American owns the political process and everyone in it. Nobody gets near higher office anymore unless they do their bidding. They might pass a law, but they won't collect much (if anything). That's not to say T won't use it as an excuse for a big layoff, thgouh. Then they can blame it on the government instead of their own greed and incompetence.

AT&T blew the last tax cut on stock buybacks and failed mergers.

So, AT&T is teaming with thousands of workers who simply count paperclips that can be laid off now...If such workers existed, they would have already been laid off.

Um, actually they do exist. They're not counting paperclips, they're playing with PPT and Excel. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know much about what goes on in the great bu-----t factories of ATT like strategic planning, consumer marketing, customer experience and places of that ilk. Take a look at these orgs in the directory and you'll see thousands of people who are getting paid to look busy but do nothing especially useful.

So, AT&T is teaming with thousands of workers who simply count paperclips that can be laid off now. Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.

(If such workers existed, they would have already been laid off.)
