Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Irreversible damage

For the past few quarters, great talents are leaving in droves. Some for better offer, some because of unending frustrations. Management spent 0 effort retaining talent until its too late and spent the last focal bribing the remaining talents to not leave while offering ludicrous money backfilling. Poor execution is hardly surprising since the company now runs by fat check talkers, expensive new hires and remaining talents who are still poorly paid compared to the former 2, who are trying to get out of the company.

OP @3xip+1hWqqWAF, you are absolutely right. It seems that what they've done is irreversible damage to the company?

Let’s say for the sake of argument that Intel is offering better salaries to top performers than the likes of Apple and NVIDIA. I don’t believe that to be accurate whatsoever, but let’s stipulate it.

You still have the problem of offering them interesting work. You can work in a slowly dying x86 market where Intel isn’t even the leader anymore. You can help Mediatek crank out 22nm commodity chips. You can work on some future-facing product, 90% of which at Intel get canceled or sold off before they leave infancy (see Knights, 5G, Optane, drones, etc.). You need to 100% buy into PG’s fairy tale stories and be emotionally interested in helping a fading giant regain its mojo. I think a lot of top talent will not be convinced. And that’s not even considering the bad rep Intel’s corporate culture has.

The growth story that Intel’s competitors can sell to prospective employees is much more compelling. It’s not easy to plot a way out of this mess.

this is intentional. Intel management is only interested in building their petty empires and will only promote equally corrupt third worlders who are willing to lie, cheat and steal to protect their management.

Intel management is clueless.

You once HAD the greatest processor team on the planet and squandered all that talent with pi-s poor management decisions.

Now those superstars are leading Apple, AMD, Nvidia etc…

Intel wouldn’t know what to do with a dream team. There would be too much politicking and none sense getting in their way.

Intel is paying much higher salaries and paying top dollar for new employees. I've also seen several employees who return to Intel at much higher grade levels after leaving for a while.
Fundamentally, why isn't Intel executing? Intel is paying a lot for the best employees money can buy.
