Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Impossible to be efficient here

"Enterprise" systems are getting slower and less responsive.
Teams that support them are getting smaller but asked to do more.
Busywork is increasing.
Metrics are being chosen that have no bearing on real-world results.

Yet we're constantly being told to increase efficiencies. Maybe one day they'll finally get blood from us stones.

@1otb Again, written like you're too high up the chain to understand how things actually work.

In my group, we do fix whatever we can internally, which does involve skirting ridiculous red tape and process roadblocks. In some cases it must be done this way given the 100s of times our support teams slow things down… it balances out the BS… otherwise we would create 10 CHGs per day.

@1qqy

Actually not the same. We are fixing our departments inefficiencies, not waiting around for other teams or complaining about other teams while doing nothing.

If you read what i said, do not complain about others, but instead focus your energy internally. Worry about what you can control and stop worrying about Charlie and the sh-t exec team he has compiled.

Then the leaders that demand a vulnerability be fixed in a week, need to understand the system they f-kin put in place. The system that requires a CHG for everything and risks tiers that impact delivery of said fixes.

@1unn "Sitting around whining about things you cant control and not fixing your own house will never get you or your team anywhere."

You sound like Charlie, sitting around whining about employees but not fixing his own house of failed antiquated management.

Increase the efficiencies surrounding the horrible systems, this shines the spotlight firmly where it should be. Too many teams cry about the enterprise systems but dont spend time fixing anything else. This if they ever do make improvements in those systems no gains will ever be realized. Our teams have focused on improving the things within our control. We have found efficiencies, and now can firmly and accurately document the toil and manual labor around various enterprise systems. Sitting around whining about things you cant control and not fixing your own house will never get you or your team anywhere.

I’m just glad that I jumped that sinking ship when I did. The stress just wasn’t worth it.

@zyi I get it, nobody likes having limited power. But it's one of the primary ways of preventing fraud. Imagine how bad it would have been if we didn't have those barriers in place.

yep. 'separation of duties' typically means reduction of efficiency and responsiveness.

the adage is true, 20% of the wf employees make it difficult for the 80% to accomplish tasks

Does any c suite egghead even know or care about the numerous steps we go through for simple changes?

If it were mapped out showing the workflow I think they would sh!t themselves.

We can never cut headcount with all the overhead

Agreed, they use meaningless measures. A manager told me that software tracks login location. Task Manager shows three software configuration tracking tools and one capable of monitoring screen/keystrokes.

Remote or on-site, the computer is slower each day. If I'm on calls, have the day, actually paying attention and participating. Will I have a low score on keystrokes? Too little mouse movement, or too much?

It is worse in areas where they check the checker before sending things to audit. Then still fail. What DE&I teaches seems counter to getting work done.

Guess they are organizing struggle sessions with the TMN. It's a draining environment. As soon as I find something else, I'm gone. Something isn't right.

Increase efficiencies, RTO, and re-calibration. A formula for success.
