Retired several months ago and had an exit plan developed over the last 2 years. Started a new job a month after retirement and haven’t been happier in years.

Once you work for another company then do you realize or reinforce what a screwed up mess XOM is from a people perspective.

Contrary to the company line, there are better systems of reviewing employee performance and development.

But the real lie has been that the last few years are anything other than a poorly disguised layoff.

Has anyone heard our actual attrition rate? I hear it’s really high.

2021 exit. New job, different industry - transferable skills appreciated. No regrets.

“Upvote if you have an exit plan”

Left the industry altogether. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.

I’m still getting used to not being disposable and having managers that know what they’re doing and actually support contributors. O&G is not the the way things should be, and it is better on the outside, but it takes ba--s and humility to get out and try something different.

Always try something new, even if it means failing in the beginning. You’ll be better off in the long run.

I've been Retired-in-Place for the past 5 years now.
I wouldn't even hear a shoe drop on top of my head.
But I'm 60-plus with 35-plus at CL 29 technical the last 4.

I've written more poetry than analysis at my desk for probably 10 years.
Gotten better too.

Last of my breed. Pension will be gone soon. Who needs old-timers?

Yeah. I’m retiring the minute I am eligible (in a few months). I will still be working, but it just will not be at EM. After I retire from here, I plan on taking a year off to recover. Afterwards, I’ll do pretty much anything until I can fully retire. That’s how toxic this place is.

Yep, 56 and retired. Can’t stand the toxic work culture anymore. Rigorously crunched the numbers a couple of years ago until I got comfortable with my 401k, pension, health benefit, etc. Pulled trigger a few months ago. Highly recommended it. Less stress and more time with people who mattered most to me. Got several offers of new gigs from others who appreciate my skills. Life is good again.

Started my own business, been ramping it up the last few years as I throttle back at XOM. Patiently waiting for Annandales doors to close and hopefully some sort of severance so I can go full time at my business. Will cash out my 401k and Pension to invest In real estate rentals for long term wealth.

I like my current job but still interview regularly (1-3x a month), still expecting to leave within the next year or two.
