I worked at Cisco in one of the APJC countries about 20 yrs ago and returned to Cisco. (well, I shouldn't have because I had not known the reality...) But I soon realized and shocked that the company had turned into a totally different company, full of young, childish, immature, unmotivational meek staff.
My manager is much younger than I by 20 yrs and he has no work experience outside Cisco. Obviously, I should be the manager, not him, because I'm much more experienced and knowledgeable with managerial experience. Why on earth should I report to and why should I click "Yes" for the question of "This week did you have a conversation with your Team Leader about your Check-in priorities?" in weekly check-in although he did not. He said that I must click "Yes" for it.
I'm already looking for a job outside the company because I know an internal move would still be the same as long as I stay at Cisco.
I've started applying for several US tech companies, but I'm wonder if hiring managers, Talent Acquisition/HR people at other US tech companies know that people from Cisco are not as professional/competent/capable/skillful/valuable as most people think they are despite its brand name?
What do you think? Do you know?
