Hiring Managers, Talent Acquisition/HR at Other US Tech Companies Are Aware that Cisco's...

I worked at Cisco in one of the APJC countries about 20 yrs ago and returned to Cisco. (well, I shouldn't have because I had not known the reality...) But I soon realized and shocked that the company had turned into a totally different company, full of young, childish, immature, unmotivational meek staff.

My manager is much younger than I by 20 yrs and he has no work experience outside Cisco. Obviously, I should be the manager, not him, because I'm much more experienced and knowledgeable with managerial experience. Why on earth should I report to and why should I click "Yes" for the question of "This week did you have a conversation with your Team Leader about your Check-in priorities?" in weekly check-in although he did not. He said that I must click "Yes" for it.

I'm already looking for a job outside the company because I know an internal move would still be the same as long as I stay at Cisco.

I've started applying for several US tech companies, but I'm wonder if hiring managers, Talent Acquisition/HR people at other US tech companies know that people from Cisco are not as professional/competent/capable/skillful/valuable as most people think they are despite its brand name?

What do you think? Do you know?

Chuck needs to have meetings with engineers. We are only people to save company! We need to have a technology summits to show ELT what need to happen for the success of ALL products. We will start by sellng off the worthless Cx- they like mosquitoes in all ways. Then we focus on how make better hardwares and software with easy and same data models and simple licensing so you do not need some degree in quantum mechanics to understanding. We already have cross-function red teams looking at such things. We need to get rid of bad no nothing sales teams who mske lies to customers and internal finace to make cheaper deal. That not selling! That loosing! Only business unit need to fix and control. Sales peoples need to go. BU can make good business with partner even in thr ASP!

And how do you come to that conclusion, genius? If attrition is constantly around 20% at Cisco, it means enough firms don’t seem to agree with your evaluation and hire ex-Cisco employees. Average folks like you irritate me. You don’t possess the wits to realise what you wrote is just plain folk-culture generalisation with zero afterthought.

I read here over and over that folks leave Cisco in droves. This can only happen if hiring managers, Talent Acquisition/HR people highly value Cisco employees.

Cisco was always run by MBAs, we are a sales & marketing company. Chambers is an MBA/salesman that bet big on cable boxes and handheld video cameras.

The Cisco you worked for 20 years ago was run by engineers. The Cisco you returned to is run by MBAs.

Been in company 6 months and am leaving. Leadership is not in reality, Management is juvenile, Products are not up to market expectations... Too experienced and professional for this place.

You and I are in the same boat. I believe that there are more like us at Cisco, feeling depressed, shocked and struggled.

I very often wonder why Cisco keeps hiring experienced and professional people like us if the company does not let us lead and manage the team, project, or any activity/task, and just let the long-tenured only-Cisco-career managers do the important things, WHY on earth hiring managers hired us... I just don't understand.
