I have an absolutely clueless and horrible supervisor who cannot understand why so many people are leaving the company. She goes on & on about it in meetings while clutching her pearls.
“I have never had a bad review. You just have to be a hard worker.”
“I don’t think anyone on our team is unhappy. Right?”
“This new policy will save the corporation money. It’ll trickle down to us all!”
Of course, no one on the team has the guts to tell her the truth (including me), so we just shake our heads and look d-mbfounded when she brings it up. I’m looking forward to giving her the link to this article when she freaks out after I tell her I’m leaving at the end of the year.
I know many people live in a bubble, but when people cannot fathom that others have a very different experience than themselves, it is extremely irritating and telling. Many times these same people think it is as simple as….they are a great worker and you aren’t.
