Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I’m glad the Bloomberg article came out

I have an absolutely clueless and horrible supervisor who cannot understand why so many people are leaving the company. She goes on & on about it in meetings while clutching her pearls.

“I have never had a bad review. You just have to be a hard worker.”

“I don’t think anyone on our team is unhappy. Right?”

“This new policy will save the corporation money. It’ll trickle down to us all!”

Of course, no one on the team has the guts to tell her the truth (including me), so we just shake our heads and look d-mbfounded when she brings it up. I’m looking forward to giving her the link to this article when she freaks out after I tell her I’m leaving at the end of the year.

I know many people live in a bubble, but when people cannot fathom that others have a very different experience than themselves, it is extremely irritating and telling. Many times these same people think it is as simple as….they are a great worker and you aren’t.

If yo I saw how much some of these LT members make you’d understand why they are so daft. I’d drink the Kool-Aid too for $400k a year. Now think about they people they prop up. Your sup sounds eerily familiar to most people on here because they are abundant. They move them around every 1-2 years. They never see anything to completion nor do they learn enough to be actual experts at anything. You know the type. Power Point jockeys. Now pay them ungodly salary for their lack of skills and actual work and watch them blindly follow any corporate commands and defend them to the death.
“I just don’t understand?!?”
Of course you don’t Karen, you’re rich.

Any level of LT has alot to lose remember that. With that being said if you do not want to go after LT for yourself. Learn as much as you can and leave.

It is sad that we have to be reminded of the "brutal truths" from a news agency.

You would think that our executives would insist that first and second line supervisors/directors would share the "brutal truths" with their employees.

The Bloomberg article was one-sided but accurate. We have had layoffs, offshoring, two re-structures, change in performance assessment process, etc with absolutely no engagement from HR. Zero leadership on these massive organizational shifts. Which indicates that Leadership just thinks all staff is fungible and disposable. Sad. I really used to enjoy working here.

100% accurate. For all of the talk about brutal truths and removing bias, it's ironic how clueless management truly is. Good luck in your new pursuit; XOM is a good training ground!
