Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Let’s say

Let’s say you’re the CEO and one day during a town hall you split and tell the entire company that that they’re too old and we need younger employees.

Next you perform layoffs targeting your older employees. It’s easy to do if you simply say the job has moved to Dallas.

Lastly, you roll out a strict 5 day RTO in buildings that lack basic needs like desks. Except for the younger employees, they don’t have to report 5 days and have their own desks. It’s easy to see then because they’re all in one organization.

Would this be considered discrimination?
Would people who lost their jobs as a result of these practices have a right to damages?

Reached MR75 almost 3 years ago. Was told I had to relocate to Dallas. Declined that offer. Requested a change in designation to full time remote. That request was rejected. Initiated my own WFH policy 11 months ago. Just received an excellent rating for 2024. My bonus will be 1.3% less than last year, but that appears to be the norm this year.

T has gotten away with systemic age discrimination. Also extorting employees to sign a waiver, Quid pro quo severance. They should have offered a mass voluntary separation. If they eliminated positions , employees of certain age and or YOS would RECEIVE FULL PENSION AND SEVERANCE. Greedy entitled destructive id--t run DEI corporation discriminating against thousands of employees over a decade

"LOL, good luck with that. Go ahead and get obliterated for starting a legal battle you can't win."

They might get obliterated but there is a legal hold on all the town halls for the last 5 years now.

Can’t wait to see what top talent T will be able to hire after losing the old timers. If I were starting out, I’d put T at the bottom of my potential employer list and go with companies that have more WFH flexibility.

“If you had a real complaint, you would speak to a lawyer. You are not serious and you know it.”

Don’t be naive. Many have already retained an attorney or are working on their case but that doesn’t preclude them for posting a question here to take the pulse of the broader employee base. Shame folks like you who are content to deal with these s—- circumstances continue to weigh in with worthless comments like these.

As a younger employee, I recently received an exemplary rating—I excel at what I do. However, I already have an exit plan. I have no desire to remain at a company where the C-suite has completely eroded morale. On top of that, career advancement is nearly impossible: “You need to move to Dallas to grow.” Yeah, no thanks. I’m setting my sights on bigger and better opportunities. So now, not only are you pushing out the more experienced employees, but even the younger ones want nothing to do with T. Great job, geniuses!

I just polled every potential juror in America and the answer is a resounding yes. They all seem to have had bad experiences with AT&T customer service for some reason. Just bad luck I guess.
