There are not many craft getting the boot these days so there won't be many answers on this board.

It’s always cheaper to offer the top seniority folks voluntary severance than to involuntarily lay off. The payoff table is twice as much so they almost always do a voluntary offer for union folks.
more than likely will be done by attrition. most of us are close to retirement age and it would be fairly stupid to pay severance plus benefits for two years.
