Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Mismanagement

Does anyone have experience dealing with mismanagement from their manager?

Mismanagement;

  • unsubstantiated performance reviews
  • controlling flow of information
  • preventing collaboration
  • changing role/scope without discussion
  • hostile, patronising tone
  • using team to push processes rather than build collaboratively
  • ignoring concerns when raised
  • lack of clear strategic communication
  • micromanagement
  • pip system abuse

If you have experience of the below, tell us your story.

Reading this post was actually a relief—it confirmed I’m not losing my mind. The Albany site is a textbook case of mismanagement: They have no clue what they are doing but walk around with an unjustified arrogance that they are experts only for something flop and quietly sweep it under rug and never mention it again. It’s all “fake it till you make it.” On top of that, there’s pervasive favoritism, cronyism and nepotism—which makes the whole operation feel like a closed caste(not just for Indian race). It’s strangely comforting to know this dysfunction is everywhere; it’s a good sanity check.

My Manager is just a glorified admin. All he does is coordinate meetings and tries to sound smart while using cringy buzzwords like Circle Back

There are still a few good managers at IBM, my FLM is great. I would not trade him in for anyone else.

IBM is in palliative care on its way to hospice care. The vision seems to be just buy other software companies and in turn buy those customers and have them consume IBM solutions by clicking icons on IBM/AWS clouds. No more need for sales people, certainly not in the US unless Federal customers. When you hear digital sales, think people with less than 2 yrs experience and everyone is on 6 month PIPs perf improve plans. I have seen Excel cells get more respect than IBM employees. Started with IBM over 40 yrs ago. It is now far beyond incompetence; it truly now is evil and designed to wear you down and force you out mentally and physically.

I had a manager was good for unsubstantiated performance reviews. She always gave the good reviews to the brown noses but not to the people who had beyond get customer relationships. Some of us called her mini Ginni

The vast majority of our employees have experience in dealing with this because you just described the typical manager here.

And what is your motive for asking for this information at this time ? Is there a lawsuit against IBM, or some class action coming up ?

Are you paying for the stories or just expecting them to be given to you for free ?

You can get s-b stories about IBM and IBM mismanagement all over the Web. IBM is one of the worst tech companies to work for, judging from the comments posted at this site.
