Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Civility, Accountability, and Straight Talk—for All of Us

Whether you’re an active employee or retiree, union or non-union, these are challenging times. The frustration, anxiety, and uncertainty many of us feel are real—and they deserve to be heard.

That said, let’s be smart about how we express ourselves. Verizon’s PR team is actively monitoring these posts, and in some cases flagging them for removal or pressuring site admins. It’s disappointing—but not surprising. So let’s keep our tone civil, our arguments grounded in facts, and our focus on holding leadership accountable for outcomes—not personalities.

To union members: a respectful reminder that you are still Verizon employees—the company issues your W-2s, and union dues are deducted weekly from your paychecks. The union has played a role in defending members at times, but it’s also fair to acknowledge that union leadership is not immune to self-interest.

And for those of us who are not union members—our voices matter just as much. Critique is not disloyalty. It’s how a healthy organization grows. But only if leadership listens.

This isn’t about division—it’s about truth, accountability, and respect across the board.

For the PR Team monitoring, flagging, pressuring the site admin to remove posts, have you been successful removing any posts? This is reminiscent of Big Gov censoring COVID-19 origins, anything causing vax hesitancy, and conservative voices only to find later that government itself spreading information that was factually wrong and burying the truth.

The company has made enormous mistakes over the years with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and boondoggles with billions in losses, and coupled slowing growth, the solution to make up for the for losses always seems to be reorg and reduce headcount voluntarily or involuntarily. Many of the folks here are just expressing their emotions and frustrations because they don't know if they'll have a job in 6 months or perhaps have already been RIF'd.

The PR Team should refocus their efforts on providing news and information all things Verizon to the investor class, to boost shareholder value and public sentiment instead of monitoring this site.

Thanks for checking in Sammy & Sammy. How was the pool today? Is the bar on the 5th floor fully stocked and your chauffeured limos parked in the circular driveway so you don't have to walk?

Let’s be real: lies don’t stay buried.
Like anything toxic, they float back up—sooner or later.
And when leadership keeps dodging accountability with spin and half-truths, it doesn’t disappear. It builds resentment and breaks trust.

Owning the truth—even when it’s uncomfortable—isn’t weakness.
It’s the only way to lead with integrity.
