Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

vote yes bc older t rates taking advantage of newer t rates

the older t rates are taking advantage of us new hires in schenectady

they are leveraging our vote saying vote no bc they are mad at the d rates.we wont get more we'll just lose jobs

this contract is OK im gonna be making over 80 grand a yr i have a GED and used to change tires for 15 bucks... it will be us new hires out the door not them... dont let them influence us.this is good money m

vote yes bc this is crazy good money and the old t rates are just made and using us to get revenge on the d rates pension

if we strike we lose pay and benefits. the old t rates dont care they have the money we being used by them f that

Well in GE money $80k is a slap in your face! With inflation and the way that we use to make money. I was making $80k easily back in the 70’s and 80’s. Where is the inflation aspect? Where is the backbone from the union? No one has a backbone anymore. Afraid of the titles and tricky rules and rats.

I was living a dream that has become my worst nightmare. No matter what we achieve it seems to be never good enough. The carrot and the stick is getting very hard to chase. Once you realize you are on a treadmill. I'm getting tired of it all and shortly will be stepping off.

It does not matter who voted yes and no at this point. Just know the layoffs and restructuring are coming soon. Once the lower level baby sitter/rats/ operations leaders with no real education get let go. Then the newer generation of Good Enough workers will be let go in waves of 80 at a rip.
If the job reduction hits me I’m not coming back. I have real experience and real skills. This place has to much drama and the politics and egos are very toxic. It’s not a healthy work environment everyone worries about what everyone else is doing. It effect quality bad.
The work its self isn’t bad money could be better healthcare is horrible 401k (no pension) is garbage for a company that generates billions in revenue. But in reality it’s not worth the games and what if’s by egotistical self glorifying, narcissist operations leaders, along with the company union reps at all levels who don’t really do nothing.
I’m just to try to make a living this place is not what it use to be my uncle worked here and had a great livelihood. Sitting nice but I tell him about this place now he shakes is head and he said it’s barely hanging on. Hiring $13-$15 hr burger flipper stoners to make industrial parts and equipment. He said he would be surprised if they kept the service and dumped the rest! They jumped on the green energy scam but it will end soon. Then back to a few builds a year and service. Lay me off please!

OP is comparing advanced manufacturing where you used to need some sort of credientials to get in to changing tires at mavis. Thats the biggest problem GE is facing is they arent hiring skilled individuals anymore.. GE is now hiring tire changers and burger flippers who see more than 15 dollars an hour and get excited and they are the ones voting for our future wages...pathetic. GE needs to go back to hiring people with manufacturing backrounds, trades, etc... not dollar general, wendys and mavis employees

With the GOV shut down no funding available for new contracts. So it will lower the projected future work loads. Which means job reduction so no matter what you vote both ways a job reduction will come. My vote is a no vote and going all in while the work is heavy to get something back or better.
