Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Some orgs might get green light to hire

But finance is already saying "math is not going to add up". I hope the sr leaders are cautious about hiring. Layoff should not be the new normal.

Headcount is power. Leaders want big numbers to tell on their next role’s interview.

@e8 newbie here but does this include the Orgs that have been told they have open headcount? So confused to see orgs with open boxes then people saying they won’t be filled?

For years Nike has been in the habit of re-orging to a new formation, then clamping down on hiring so the vision is never fully resourced or executed. When the results don’t meet expectations, they respond with another re-org, leaving teams in a constant spin cycle of change. It’s hard to bring your best innovative thinking when you’re just trying to figure out WTF is going on.

They laid off people who were highly successful and exception who could have easily slotted into roles they since posted for. No attempt at internal placement. The left hand doesn't talk to the right hand, consulting firms are an added layer of impediment, and it's a huge waste of money.

So stupid.

Literally about divesting to invest not laying off for cost cutting, hence the green light to hire.
