Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

In-office stores closed?

Hearing reports that the stores-within-the-offices at Frisco, OP, and Bellevue suddenly closed last week without notice. Can anyone confirm? Are we that strapped for cash?

@ft Can you read? "The acquisition of Sprint's beachfront RF" was the point, not the network.

@ev not the network, that was turned off. The spectrum was what was bought.

@ev your memory is quite skewed before you start patting yourself on the back for that Peak award. The 600Mhz motherload spectrum came from 2017 FCC auction before Sprint was a takeover target. Not T-Mobile's fault that Sprint squatted on the pizza box broadband they had sitting for decades. https://www.t-mobile.com/news/press/tmobile-spectrum-auction-win

@ac The "network turn-around" you speak of was primarily due to ONE thing. The acquisition of Sprint's beachfront RF. You are welcome! For all the b1tching legacy T-Mo employees do about "Sprinters"....no Sprint network, no chasing and catching #2 ATT and #1 Verizon. Again, you are welcome.

Overland Park store closed and now they are "refreshing" the lobby but the render they shared isn't magenta.

@a3 Yep. I recall a time when they couldn't convince employees to wear free T-Mobile t-shirts in public because it was considered embarrassing to do so. They tried to print some shirts with Neville's caricature on it and no T-Mobile branding anywhere.

Wasn't until about two years after Legere's on stage outbursts that gave Neville some capex leverage to turn the network around. That approximately would have been around the time their HSPA+ and some spectrum alignment is when I started seeing people embracing material gimmicks with his shoes, crockpot, and cookbook.

That lead to Factoria and Frisco remodel and the lavish courting of all the interns, to me this what gave the image that T-Mobile was the place to work to the outside world. I remember one morning see a crowded group of interns being led around feeding and entertaining them for a week flying them all into Factoria to go attend Mariners game. Legere was just hired to shake up the image to prep for merger-ready domination and bounce. Now they are right back to where they started; lame duck status.

Frisco store was closed overnight without warning and boarded up. There was a QR redirecting everyone to the T-life app smh

I would never spend a dime on magenta “swag” myself but I know a lot of ppl who drink the magenta kool-aid are always decked out in magenta gear. After the 1st major cut I stopped wearing anything magenta and donated all my stuff.

Either way to me it’s a bad sign when you have to close your own company stores on campus. Even if it’s not making money, just keep it running for the sake of the brand.

Ship is sinking. But we still have money to spend on d-list celebrities like druski for our ads. It’s just a matter of time before the free lunches are gone, at this point that’s the only reason some ppl go to the office
