Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Collaboration Layoffs — 3 scenarios being discussed

  1. Private Equity firms have been in contact. Bravo and Vista in the lead. But Collab cost structure isn’t good for a SaaS company and they both want Collab to LR 30% on Cisco dime before they move forward
  1. Zoom and Microsoft can buy all or parts, but this would be a admitting major defeat for Math Major. Not likely
  1. Keep Collab within Cisco family, but make this 9.5% LR look small by comparison to the next one. Let go 20% and focus on areas still with a shot: CPaaS, for one.

I can't belive this ELT hasn't fired JP. The guy is a complete failure.

You might be right but the problems in Collab have been there much longer than JP. What did Amy achieve? What did Rowan achieve, apart from some nice hardware?

With respect to Webex, Cisco never saw MS Teams (or Lync for that matter) as a credible threat. Newcomers like BlueJeans were ignored.

The move to hosted PBX and call centre weren’t given credence. We launched rubbish like HUCS at multiples of competitor pricing. I remember hosting an EBC at Boxborough and the customer sharing their pricing from Avaya. It was embarrassing.

You can’t lay all the Collab issues at JP’s door. We made that market and then squandered it.

Honestly the only reason collab is even close to staying relevant is they made the right decision to put BS as the head of WW sales. The guy is a machine. If he leaves then The ship has officially hit the iceberg.

Buy Zoom, we have certainly made worse acquisitions, then Microsoft would have to take us seriously again, we should also partner with Google for tighter collab integration and Meta for VR headsets and a business meta-verse.

Fix the current licensing chaos and standardize the licensing philosophy across all portfolio. Provide pre-integrated solution. Come up with single platform connects all product portfolio. Make all SW products cloud based and partner with min 2 cloud provider. Stop crying and complaining. Do some work/magic at HQ, show progress and show growth to Wall Street.

BS. It still generates way more revenue than security and we aren’t selling off that sh-t.
