Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Definitely not looking forward to the aftermath

If I survive this wave, all I can hope for is more work, more stress, and definitely more chaos. Nothing to look forward to but holding onto this awful job for as long as possible. I'm demoralized to the point of being both numb and depressed. I honestly don't know what's worse anymore - being laid off, or staying.

An observation based loosely on Frederick Herzberg's motivation hygiene theory: Cigna is the type of company (like nearly all corporate giants), Cigna is not now or has ever been interested in motivating employees. It isn't their focus. They try to pay enough and extend good enough benefits to keep too much turnover from happening.

Now that we are scared to lose our jobs and won't even receive a fair raise (and now rumors that bonuses haven't been approved). It stands to reason that any reason to really want to work here (outside of I gotta pay the bills) is dead. They know this and they do not care.

I think for those who do survive are going to wish they got terminated - I also believe with out a major leadership change at the top Cigna will be right back here in a year from now promising more “savings” to the share holders so the DC’s can keep making their $$$.

Terminating good workers isn’t the solution terminating top shelf that haven’t moved the share price in 5 years might be a better solution.

I think David would merge us with Chucky Cheese if he thought it would increase his annual package - he doesn’t make decisions for a better Cigna its all about the money.

I was part of the 1st wave and let me tell you something, it’s surreal. I hated the culture, toxicity and the micromanagement in the dept I worked in and this was probably the best thing that has happened to me. I felt relieved a new beginning I am out so now I can find something better and healthier. Leadership that ran the dept were a bunch of useless id--ts lacking brains they marched to whatever they were told to do even if it made zero sense, just so they have a job. Spineless. Pathetic. While I don’t wish for anyone to lose their job but if you are in an unhealthy dept / role, welcome the change / embrace it / trust the process that you will find something better.

yeah. in a meeting, manager nonchalantly said how were gonna have to figure out how to consolidate/condense the work that gets done. and it made me feel like getting laid off is just as exciting as surviving the layoffs themselves. such a bleak feeling
