Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Feels like this place is in a death spiral anyway

Even if survived this round feels like would already be lined up for the next one. They have zero answers for how to actually win back market share as they aren't willing to invest in actual long term fixes. Everything has just been short term survival till next quarter talk even with the new leadership.

And to top it off they've backed clover as the growth engine. When it's a rubbish product in comparison to much more nimble competitors out there. And also one of the tightest margin spaces that exist in payments.

@a8 The fundamentals seem all gone. But this goes way way back to the rank and yank days of the 1990s in Omaha which also popped up like dandelions everywhere. It hasn't mattered who has been the senior leader meaning Prez and Board going back over maybe 10 different ones.

For 20 plus years some thought the Fed would just take it over. That doesn't look to be happening.

I fear we are at the doom ship, end game time now. The fact that apparently debt is increasing and cash flow no longer in ponzi scheme style will cover that, and with no fundamentals for several decades if not more... It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

I mean the new leadership agrees this company has been underinvested and overpromised for way too long now. That's why they reset expectations. I don't see how they are doing the exact same thing under FB who overrelied on short term optics. The company is clearly in rebuild mode. The issue is can they actually execute on the new strategy they have? Is it strong enough to restore growth without further sacrificing margins? Maybe but this company is huge and its not like it can turn around quickly. 1-3% organic revnue is what they are targeting which is more or less them trying to stabilize the company.

I think betting on Clover is risky when you look at the competition (Toast, Square, Shopify, Stripe, etc) but its not operating on razor thin margins either. If they want to grow Clover they will have to invest in it.
