Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No communication since notice

Since I was notified that my last day is June 5th, I have not been contacted by anyone. My immediate supervisor has not been contacted by anyone. He has never been told by anyone that I have been laid off. I find this to be absolutely ludicrous and completely ridiculous, but I have not heard from anyone regarding any closing process. Is there any kind of interview? Exit interview or anything? Is this normal for me not to have heard anything?

@OP there is no exit interview. no discussions. just make sure you return your equipment otherwise you will not get your severance. also make sure you sign your severance agreement and immediately file for unemployment. that's all. it is worst in other companies. my friend got laid off at avaya yesterday. she just got an email from HR and it was an immediate off role, no notification period and severance is only a month for 5 yrs she worked there.

I was also impacted and yes I got severance information but the person they gave me to answer questions has been radio silent to my emails. I have no clue what the process is for returning equipment etc. Incredibly disorganized but what can you do

@OP Is there someone else with the same first and last name at the company?

@OP if you are a VZ employee, the person that notified you should have sent all separation docs to you the week following notification. You need to call that person back directly. If contractor, still call that person back directly.

@OP Are you an employee of Verizon or a contractor working thru another company?

Who notified you that you were being laid off? It’s usually your immediate supervisor and their boss and then HR refers you to a website with the severance information. I find it hard to believe that your supervisor wasn’t aware.

Did you not get an email with instructions? Did you get a severance package?
