Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Its two weeks for every year under my hierarchy but doesnt seem to be the same across the board. Its definitely varying depending on how you report too. If you are offered the 30 day notice, you aren’t getting the same either. The place is doing everything it can under robins leadership tp sc--w over employees. But hey dont forget to volunteer or donate to one of their community causes while you struggle. They have to keep up the fake front to everyone else

Two weeks of pay for every one year of employment. This is what BNY offers, from my understanding.

This execs at this firm are the lowest of the low pond sc-m. If you could get out, do it. They will find a way to sc--w you and not pay you your full severance .

@OP Trust me they will try not to pay you severance. I was there a long time. Severance would have been a year salary under the actual policy that was in place when I was let go. Instead they offered me 3 months. Now it sounds like they are moving away from that and offering a week per year of service. Not sure what the official policy is now. Seems to be all over the map. If they can find anything like RTO violation, missed training, etc they will offer nothing. This place was at one time a great company to work for but not so much now. Be aware what they will attempt to do. In my case, I legally pursued, they quickly settled without going to court, and they paid me for a year. No bonus. No cobra stipend. I did get 401k match. I was not happy with any of this but at least feel fortunate I got something. Sorry all of this is still happening. Completely ridiculous.

@bf best to not use Teams at BNY. I swore regularly in Teams and refereed to sr leadership as homos.

Be careful they will try to short change you and get you for the smallest infraction to null that severance. Guy in our realm in NYC had 28 years and they got him for 2 things , foul language in IMs and missing training classes. He got an offer of 12 weeks instead. I have seen others saying they threatened with legal action and got them to settle so that maybe an option. Just keep in mind this is the worst they’ve been to people so be prepared for them to find anyway not to pay you out.

Good luck getting your payout. It’s a lot of pain waiting for something that you may never get. If they can find a way to sc--w you, they will.

@OP you need to truly examine your health both mental and financial and develop what @ak calls a strategy. Simply because the window on severance is shrinking and closing at the same time. We have had firings this month and several people report getting 1 week per year of service now. And many don’t even get that. You have four choices under your control- 1.) work full time at finding a new job with the same or even lesser pay. .2) just outright quit if you can 3.) go out on sick leave and 4.) stay here with the very real possibility of going down with the ship and getting nothing. Just remember something too- the words ‘hoping’ and BNY do not go together.

@ab. Strategy. Might be past the expiration date to collect the trifecta. Incentive pay, match, severance.
