Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

@3jb you're oblivious to what is happening around you. 20-30% of the company will be chipped away here and there for the next year. The FY27 cuts are real. There will be no big announcements. It is ongoing. It is slow, methodical, and quiet.

Exactly!
When WSJ reported 1400 axes jobs at visa, the answer was that those already happen.

That was a good insight into the process. When the journal published the news at the end of the year the process was already done. Majorly of us didn’t notice.

This is how visa does it.

@3ne I assume the people doubting what is being posted are relatively new to Visa and worked at places that did announcements. Most that have been at Visa for 7+ years know about how Visa releases U.S. employees to avoid a WARN (and layoff announcement) and the terms people must accept to get a severance package.

What’s the severance package? Is it anything like metas? I’ll take that!

@3hx I always keep an eye on how much attrition. Visa has a track record of staying just shy of the local time and headcount #'s that require legal layoff notifications. so if the # is 60 people in 30 days they'll let go 59 and wait the full 30 days before doing another batch of 59 that way from a legal perspective it's not a layoff.. it is but they don't have to provide the notification of a layoff. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. there have been so many non-layoffs over the years where people have been packaged out without it being called a layoff.

At a recent meeting, when questioned about the rumors of a layoff the speaker said 'no layoffs planned' but immediately undercut that with corporate jargon like 'organizations our size need periodic adjustments to stay competitive.' Clear as day they’re coming. Frustrating when they can’t just say it straight out.

Like 20 people in my org just promoted today mostly lower level with a few sr to director. No layoffs.

Those other people screaming large layoffs were definitely just trying to stir things up.

I am not sure if a layoff is coming but there are a lot of signs.

There’s a lot of locations and Job titles with hiring freeze, a lot of focus on documentation and solve tech debt ( from test to legacy code ).

A lot of changes on upper management at many orgs, more then one mention afterwards something in the lines of “ not the right person to manage the change that is coming to the org”

Visa avoids so far big layoffs, management likes the view that business is good and head count increases however attrition will be high until they get the right persons on the right locations.

Not sure if a big layoffs will come or just continues the trend of hiring requirements for promotion and easier to performance firing in the undesirable locations, pair with the hiring freeze.

Visa did fire people in June, at least in Madrid, Austin, London, Singapore and somehow even Australia.

Not everything is a layoff. Is a big company, this is normal.

Word is spreading that a major round of layoffs is coming, along with a flatter org structure. It's one of the bigger shake-ups the company has seen in some time.

This was bullsh-t then, major my a-s.

Seems like there is a layoff ongoing now since May. Not a single day event company wide, but team by team on various days layoff happened. If not happen to your team now, it might mean not happen at all or just not your team turn yet. Remember, if same as last year after annual review there will be another round of termination based on performance review results.

I think there will be reorg based and other event based workforce reduction ongoing for coming months....

@3gz your point? There’s no layoffs, it’s just some dude trolling people on here with fake dates to scare everyone. A company with 30k employees you would hear of layoffs, 5 or 10 people is not a layoff.

Start looking for Plan B. Layoffs can happen anytime, unannounced, A big team of 16-20 people got the axe month of October

@2hk and as if by clockwork, I get my "unexpected" Teams invite with my manager tomorrow morning.

Of course there's nothing actually unexpected about it. I have been blackballed since the start of the year in my local office. I've seen this pattern of behavior with colleagues before. It's just that I am on the block this time.

For anyone remaining who wishes to remain with this toxic organization, you need to be so careful. This place is a complete nest of vipers and you cannot trust a single person in authority. Even asking direct questions to a person's face will result in bare faced lying.

The motto of the company that it's about uplifting everyone, everywhere is some kind of sick joke. It's more like destroying everyone all around you, while elevating yourself. It's a sociopaths dream.

The lady who manages department finance had a short meeting with SVP showing list of people who will be axe to get his green light approval. They were behind me and the next day I get 9 AM MS team invite with manager and HR letting me know that my job got eliminated. The invite was on a Wed June 19 AM. Another lady arrived at the office and the manager scheduled an in person meeting with HR after lunch. She left office in tears. Department needs time to compile list and HR needs to gather age, job code, etc. No regrets I wanted to leave badly and this action made it smooth and easy. Take advantage of LHH career counseling, target 20-25 employers, apply directly to their website, exercise, take walks, to keep your sanity. Do not worry about your age, age is just a number. Attitude, Flexibility, Persistence matters more. There are jobs out there, it take time! Happy job hunting :)

Okay, let’s go to fact check. My entire team was eliminated. I mean, even our VP and I know many others who were out. All that happened in May, and I know many people I still talk to who know people who were forced to either retire or undergo a restructuring. Mostly, these people have been in the company for a couple of years.

@2m8 The purpose of this site is to post "News, personal experiences, rumors and speculations about layoffs at your company." If it's causing "churn and stress," stepping away might be the better choice. The general consensus points to a global re-org on the horizon, based on organizational moves, timing, word of mouth, and people with direct knowledge. Information shared here can be valuable for anyone weighing a career or financial decision — these rumors are worth factoring in.

It’s one guy trolling and upvoting himself here. Some b-m who su-ked at his job and got fired and is trying to sc--w with the company and people.

No lay offs happening anywhere. VATC hasn’t even rolled out fully. Would be atleast a year or more before AI at Visa will be sufficient enough for lay offs.

Post ID: @29h+1ktkzv671

@28r Most of what has been posted about Visa is true. Layoffs will occur in July (Globally, not region specific) and Visa is indeed starting earlier than late July. People were let go in April and May 2026. People are likely to be let go this week or next.

People have been "re-org'd" out of Visa since 2023 (every 60-90 days). Maybe after they let go of 20-30% (rumor going around) this year things will slow down.
