Thread regarding Alteryx layoffs

Dear Andy and the Board

We are exhausted.

The people actually trying to keep up are exhausted. The rate of change in our platform, the multiple changes in strategy and direction for messaging, the rate of innovation around AI, middle management that lacks empathy and communication skills, the upcoming move to Google, the constant loud demand to do MORE FASTER with no end in sight. And now rumors of more layoffs to come.

We are at our breaking point. Yes we need to move fast to keep up in the market, but give us some damn grace and maybe a week long shut down to catch our breath. We are only human.

It’s true that beneath all the fluff and rah-rah, the only thing driving Andy and his C-team are the payouts when the eventual PE exit happens. Likely in 2-3 years.

Every employee at Alteryx is an impediment to that happening — a cost that either contributes to that happening, or impedes it.

Andy and the C suite are NOT our friends. Our PE Overlords on the board are NOT our friends. We only exist as employees because they believe we can help them achieve the desired returns over the next few years.

It won’t be a surprise if layoffs happen, but if they do it will be because your job (or performance in that job) is not deemed to be contributing to that mission of supporting and adding to the exit strategy multiple.

So just have both eyes open, and manage your own career. If you are tired or exhausted, leave. Not being rude — just saying you should protect your own mental and physical health. Alteryx DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU and will not help you. Only YOU can help you.

It’s only going to get worse, more frenzied and crazier as we go forward, not just because of the market and AI changing things, but because the clock is ticking on the PE masters’ exit strategy, and expectations are getting higher and the pressure is getting higher on Andy and his team by the month.

Key both eyes open. And be well. Take care of yourselves.

You are exhausted? From what?

We have Ai doing all our work. Andy is not wrong. Some people just choose to be lazy and delay every task.

@b6 care to share some of those examples? It can be hard to cut through the clutter and actually get a sense of a company before / after a specific leader.

@OP Andy is there to get his payout when he gets the company to its intended target. You are not his employees. You are the obstacles to him getting his bag. And here's the kicker: Andy and his leadership team have zero prior wins to his name. So it's a lot of damage with very little chance of actual success. They actually have a history of leaving every single company they've been at in worse shape than when they arrived.

Please take care of yourself. Alteryx, and the board that governs, will never stop. They are driven by profit and will take anything they can get from staff.

While work environments can be su-ky, ultimately you are the only one who can care of you.
