@jj
I hope so. As someone said below to actively look for another job is very true. Never worked in insurance industry before. Worked for private companies and been laid off there so it’s never safe anywhere.

@fn my two cents is that the HEDIS Ops team will probably remain untouched for the most part.

possibly a slight reduction depending on how they staff for MRR. but if there are less medical records to review due to less members, less staff is needed for that specific function.

HEDIS is such a key part of the business and it directly impacts Stars as well.

@fp hoping the more that say no is better chance the ones might get their VSP approved.

@fn - You want some false sense of security. No one can give you that. If you work in the insurance industry this is what they do, lay people off to cut costs. Sooner or later it may be you. Less members = less staff, in all departments. Even quality, compliance, etc. The only individuals that are safe are the physicians. You need to be prepared for being laid off all the time. Always have your résumé up-to-date, always have a plan B for finances.

I am truly shocked at how many are surprised this is occurring. For months SL has pushed AI and streamlining productivity to become more lean/efficient. I started looking several months ago and was able to find something else. The words change, but the underlying message is the same. Reorganizing, efficiency, need to find savings, enrollment is down, stock is down, costs are up…. So on and so on. All red flags to start planning accordingly RIFs are coming.

I can promise you this, if you start looking now, the chances of finding another position are much better than when there are 1000s of you looking for jobs all at once. Please be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

@eg
can you please tell me about the Quality dept ? One director resigned last Friday. Curious because the company has to have audits and Hedis so wondering how the cuts will affect this dept. I need my job and I can’t leave with no job.

@eg I sure do hope the majority of the VSP applicants are allowed to go. And yes, this will help save the people that genuinely want to stay.

My understanding is none other than SVP and above, but after July 2, that may trickle down to Entry level VP's and above so discussions can be had on what next steps are for each team.

Was in a Town hall where it was shared that all VSP applicants, for the most part, will be approved. That is why there is going to be a lag time between when you’re approved and your last working day as they shuffle people around to backfill. I believe the number that was shared was greater than 90% will be approved. Yes, there will be layoffs after that as well. I was also in a meeting where some of the shifting of responsibilities was discussed. Certain individuals, who will name remain nameless, are not eligible to pick up additional duties. Does not take a genius to figure out that they’re going to be part of the RIF if they don’t take the VSP. BTW, do not ask me what plan, it is going to be broad sweeping across all plans and departments. None are exempt. Take care and make the right decision for you.

@aj - wish it were not the case, but based on the new Medicaid work requirements alone the projected membership losses will likely be higher than 100-200k.

@ac it’s nice to see others being a voice of reason. Agree 100% with what you stated. Those who want to leave have a chance to get out with severance like they said they wanted and save someone who doesn’t want to leave.

@az I’m at Corporate.

my leader was told 25%, whether or not that is specific to our area or across the board, no one knows. this was prior to the VSP.

@a9 no one talks about it on my team and that’s 10% reduction. We again have no idea of how many needed.

Based on information we were provided…. Goal is to accept as many as possible based on “company need”. Information provided states that decreases in members numbers are expected (at this time) to be between 100k-200k for 2027. So fasten your seatbelts it’s gonna be a bumpy a ride.

They are trying to accept as many people who willingly want to go as possible without totally destroying critical teams.

The VSP will allow more people who want to keep their jobs, to keep their jobs vs. what happened 3 years ago.

Despite all the freaking out, speculation, wild claims and understandable fear…

I think they took our feedback from last time, and this is a much better path. No one wants to fire people or lose their job, but businesses is business, and we all know 100% why membership is being lost. Just my 2 cents.

@a9 what management level gives you visibility into who accepts the offer before the July 2nd decision deadline?

probably close to 100%.

there are 35 people on my team and so far only 3 have applied. I anticipate more of my team members to get cut in addition to the 3 leaving.
