VSP Denial

in the slim chance your VSP application is denied, what is your plan? I can’t decide whether to put in my two weeks immediately or wait for the layoff notification.

I’m leaning towards putting in my two weeks.

I don’t believe the business will deny the application to just decide to lay us off two weeks later. I do see the business trying to work us to death for a few more months, then decide they don’t need us and give us the boot then.

I already two the work of 2.5 FTEs, I’m not taking on anything more.

If your VSP is denied you can appeal it. It’s in the VSP handbook. So at least appeal the denial and try to get the money.

@ay Do we have to notify our PL?

@ar OP here. I think the only person who should be notified is your PL if you feel comfortable. I’m not concerned whether or not my colleagues see me as a team player, because I pick up their slack in addition to saving the day every time something falls apart. if anything, they’ll be upset they will actually have to do their jobs now. not my problem anymore.

My question is should we keep quiet until approved? Deadline is this week but I’m unsure if I should lie and say I didn’t put on for it (co workers will definately ask) for fear of any retaliation in case I get denied…I won’t be seen as a team player even though the company is “offering” this.

I am doing 2 weeks notice if mine is denied. I totally agree we are already doing our jobs plus as it is and I am not going to keep on especially when they could care less about us. I already have another job lined up but can’t give them a start date due to the uncertainty

@a9 I’m thinking of leaving healthcare and health insurance entirely for that exact reason. no point in jumping ship to a competitor when they’re also in this mess…

a lot of people don’t realize how big of an issue this is. some healthcare facilities are already having to close because they don’t have the funds to operate.

In this job market, I wouldn’t do a damn thing without another job offer. All our competitors are also losing membership due to MAGA’s big beautiful bill.
