The compensation is good, yes, but "thriving" might be overstating it a bit. It's a phone-it-in job at this point; all maintenance, no design.

Yes those of us who have held on with Broadcom (including VMware folks) have seen our stock based compensation skyrocket in value.
People are paying off their mortgages, paying college tuitions, upgrading their houses or buying new houses etcetera.

My last total comp pre-acquisition was in the $400s. The last two years have been $700s, $800s, and may break $1M this year. Nobody would call this a fun job but I'm going to retire 5-10 years sooner so I don't care one bit.
