Everyone should ask chatGPT what your take home pay would be in your state after taxes. What I would actually get to keep is almost cut in half after taxes. Makes the VSP offer less appealing.

@c1 Only 🧌 is 🫵. It’s a legit question. Not everyone wants to sit back and take it up the 🍑 by a Centene 🍆
Boy you trolling with a post like this. If you want to clown on people uncertain of their future, you came to the right person.
@am+1 - not necessarily. If the payout is a lump sum and happens close to the end of the year. For sum they could be cramming 17 months into a year causing higher bracket, phased out child credits, etc. Timing comes into play.
Wish they had given the option to pay into our 401k to avoid or reduce tax
I was laid off from WellCare in 2008, they cut that sh-t like a bonus. About 40%.
@b0
Really that is just being rude.
You shouldn’t be asking ChatGPT anything, dum--ss.
That would really be a waste of time. Severance pay counts as ordinary income tax so it washes when you do your tax filing for the applicable years. Even if they take out more because they pay in a lump sum or in a different increment than bi-weekly it’s still your standard salary come tax time.
One only has to adjust their w-4 if they want more or less taken out to offset the cost.
@a9 - the extra weeks pay go towards paying the tax, so when the dust settles it’s no different than regular severance. Guarantee the company comes out ahead somehow (taxes). No way they figured out a win win for anyone.
@a1 Doesnt hurt to be able to have help with calculations, theyre not asking for assistance with livelihood questions. Its validation of tax policy and calculations.
The VSP will be taxed like a bonus. Not worth it. I’m rolling the dice!!!
You should be asking Copilot. Centene isn't spending all this money to replace us with robots for you to use a competitor AI model. The nerve.
If you have to ask crapGPT how to make a decision about your own livelihood...
