@ax how was the sev package?
@OP ISA (now SE)
@ap Send links. We need them. I am so depressed today. Yesterday I was numb, today I am deeply saddened. CDW isn't what it used to be.
@aj HI
@b5 we didn’t know. Coworkers were told before we were. Only way I knew of people leaving was getting OOO or bounce backs saying their email was not valid. Now the huge shift of personal to new management, overloading managers with 30-50 direct reports across services and coworkers picking up the workload of their let go counterparts. Senior leader communication was trash and in poor taste.
@b3 I'd love to hear the real reason they split up DX with how well we were doing as a whole. I was in DX on the delivery side. Good luck with what's next, looks like plenty of companies still value SAs.
@b7 it was immediate! …no transition! At least we got an email heads-up this time. Also thought it was interesting they told coworkers to work from home today!
@OP Marketing hit hard—at least on the content side. Thx AI!
@as instant. Was told I would be locked out of the system after the call. Quick 5-min, canned/scripted call. 15+ years with CDW.
@ah Bid Desk can't afford to lose people! They are the lifeline of company profitability. Really silly move to remove veterans from that team!
@bn Brian Smith gone
Any VPs actually get impacted or mostly managers?
@bb
Yup...those managers that cared and opened thier mouths are not what they want.
They want bo--y kissers that keep quiet and carry out orders no questions asked.
I cared as well but I was just an AM so I quit no severance...they can choke on that blood money.
@a6 I know quite a few sales managers that were let go, including myself. common theme? we also shared how miserable our teams were and how this GTM process was negatively affecting our business and our clients. so lesson learned, fall in line with the 45 new SVPS or you'rr out.
Managed services got it bad. Lot of middle management and key players, gone
@b5
This is such a joke. Many managers were told to hit a number and had to make a tough decision. Not all of us hate our teams, you know. Did you ever consider that out of the 15k employees here that, perhaps, some managers aren't je-ks? And that we really do care about our people and this is gut wrenching to send them into this economy unemployed? Maybe your group is rough, sorry to hear if so, but not all of us hate our people. it's worse for those losing their job but don't think managers are here celebrating. This is the worst.
@b7 my access was cut immediately after i got off the meeting
@b1 Are you having to leave today or are they giving a transition time?
Im an ex-dubber and im so so sorry to those that got the email. CDW is NOT what is once was. Buying Sirius was a huge mistake and now the tentured CDW and Sirius people are getting sc--wed. But don’t worry, Chris Leahy made $15M last year. Maybe it’s for the best, honestly, it is just not what it used to be.
@b4
Some managers maybe didn't know...yours included.
I knew about things before they happened as I was close to my director.
People knew.
Some managers find out last minute and have to pick who they fire to meet the quota they're given. They might even now get a pre made list since it looks like CDW is targeting tenured coworkers over 40.
They rather pay severance since it can be put on the books differently.
Managers don't care as much as people think since they want to stay employed collecting those checks.
@az Correct. A couple of years ago, there were some layoffs and I was close to my manager. This person told me that they were not aware that they were losing an employee until late the night before. The manager had no say.
@aj Microsoft - DX
@at some managers knew and some didn’t - even on teams that rolled up to the same Director. But that’s always been the case. I never did figure out what their rhyme or reason was, but now I don’t care since I was on the list this morning too. Best wishes to all those impacted!
@at
Some people knew. Those that are in the inner circles.
Some play d-mb but there arw people that knew.
As someone else mentioned...don't trust everyone. CDW isn't one big family as you can see how the current leadership likes to fire 40+ and tenured people who got the company to where it is.
Check previous posts/topics as several people posted these layoffs were coming about a week ago.
Funny thing is for coworkers being let go...if you check LinkedIn there are announcements of new hires for some of the same roles.
Was laid off today. Was with the company for 7 years. Was on the business side. Still numb and in shock.
@at
You hit the nail on the head. People assume frontline managers have all this pull and decision making. Teams are basically told what is happening by uppers... then get the pleasure of carrying out these brutal calls. The process stinks! Obviously worse for the people losing their jobs, but you get what I mean. Y'know?
Technology's Portfolio Enablement team was hit hard today.
@OP I got a call early today to let me know I was being let go. FSA almost 17 years. But overall, I'm fine with it as I've been prepared to retire for 2 years and now I get a sev package!
I know the Admin force was affected as well. They are holding them for a “transition period” until 9/15
Got cut after almost 4 years, was in DV before the re-org. My meeting is later today. Haven't heard about anyone else from my team being let go.
@aq leadership isn't told. Many found out the same time coworkers did.
Is this an instant thing or are they giving you a few months to stay like before?
@ap As an ex-dubber ISA, what CDW has done to the ISA role is a shame by dissolving it. All they needed to do was keep the ISA/FSA model and bring in Sirius, etc as ATAE's and CDW wouldn't be in the mess they are now. As many said before, they are discounting the value of relationships. As an ISA I would have customers contact me directly at times since I had so much interactions/repeat business with them and they trusted my technical expertise and knowledge, but that is all gone now, and the results show. People Do Business With People They Like, sorry you all facing the consequences of leadership that doesn't understand that.
@an
Someone in an earlier post said like 750 in total.
Who really knows. Leadership isn't really transparent anymore.
@ak
Many competitors would love solid ISA's from CDW.
There are also smaller competitors that are comprised of ex CDW coworkers that pay a lot more of the GP as commission for that expertise.
I've lost solid ISA's in the past to MFG partners and to our competition.
Contracting Operations lost multiple people today. A couple with 15+ years at CDW. Still don’t know the exact number or everyone who was let go.
@aj The new geniuses in charge have made a big point of saying that delivery will be much more involved in presales and this may be part of that plan. Of course delivery is graded on utilization and presales isn't billable so.......
Got the email. seven years 4 as an ISA
@ad Sorry to hear that, the SA team seemed really thin before this. What vertical, if you don't mind sharing?
Bid Desk has lost folks as well as the Procurement organization. Some within the PPM org as well. unsure on total numbers though.
