I think they are trying to see just how many of us will quit so they don’t have to pay out anything. Went from July 15 to July 29 and last day from September 1 to September 4 or possibly even later than that. What the he-l???

@b3 the “clarification” email only clarified that they can and will change whatever they want and when they want and all by thinking it’s fair game. Unreal. They are destroying people. Heartless
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the date changes! What are they thinking of?? It’s terrible enough to throw all the employees into limbo but to not take into account that people have families and deadlines and school is starting in the fall etc. etc. is just horrible. Playing chicken with our careers and livelihoods is another level of arrogance and manipulation.
@a9 You are absolutely right! That would’ve been a much better approach
Probable reasons why "all of a sudden they need two extra weeks" is because of the sheer amount of applicants that they didn't anticipate being so large in number, and of those applicants, it wasn't just "peons and plebes" but VIP "movers and shakers" who want out, too.
Easy for them to displace and then 3rdworld replace those they deem to be of "low or easily expendable" status.
Not so easy for them to refill vacancies left by people with long time and genuine knowledge, experience, and expertise. Those people cost money...real money. And are not easy to replace. It costs money to recruite and convince that level of executive to jump from wherever they might be now, over to a new position. Perks, deals, and perhaps other sorts of "gentlemen's agreements" must be made, and those things take time as well as money. But it must be done, because the glue that holds it all together must be upheld. Otherwise, everything falls apart.
If enough of their "high value executives" joined the onslaught of applicants to GTFO of this place with VSP, then now they really have to scramble to try to figure out how to handle this added pressure on their timeline, which they apparently didn't see coming.
Tick tock, tick tock...LULZ
I am very disappointed right now to say the least. They are keeping us in lingo while they carefully execute a plan to keep max dollar rolling in with the least payroll expense . No sh--s will be given about your performance or how many nice things your people leader says about you. First email says.. if you don’t quit now, you will likely be gone in August due to restructuring, yay. Now this update says.. oh no, please don’t quit if want to work here. Please withdrawal, come back. How out of touch are these people? If we didn’t want to be here, we wouldn’t be here. We are not trees. We can move. The bottom line is that nobody wants to live in fear that their children will not eat or have a roof over their head, or that we will not be able to have that important medical test done if we are not insured. What kind of social experiment are they conducting here? If you need to reduce headcount, just send this opportunity to people close to retirement and have actual supervisors make necessary cuts to their own team based on business needs and base cuts in performance and work ethic. Then provide those cut with a generous severance to get back on their feet. Mind games are not necessary. This is not boosting moral, this is cowardly. This is simply avoiding accountability for poor financial planning and wanting to extend the opportunity to every employee to feel like they were the ones who cut themselves, instead of being laid off. I thought we had “difficult conversations with care.” We are waiting , let’s have this discussion and move on.
Did they also extend the date the decision is due?
@OP honestly it feels like they’re extending the time just so they can get on board and give people write ups, just to get out of paying severance. Why else if they have been preparing for months, all of a sudden they need two extra weeks?
yeah it is BEYOND annoying. Im actively negotiating a start date with a new employer. Ridiculous as fu-k. What a horrid executive team. They are intentionally making it impossible to time an exit and get a new role. The second I know the VSP is not gonna happen, I'm out that day. No notice. No two weeks. Just moving on.
@a3 interesting perspective. but I can see that too.
Don’t let them get in your head. Stay calm while the situation breeds anxiety and let it play out. They hold all the cards but this won’t go on indefinitely. Do what you have to do between now and the end date so that you don’t leave before earning the severance offered. I’m sure they’re hoping people bail out on their own before then.
Reading the email, I think thay have too many opt-ins
so freaking annoying
nah, we play the long game baby! in it to win it!
