Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Political and Toxic

Came to CDW from elite enterprise tech sales (Oracle, Gartner, Dell, AT&T) thinking the partner side would be a great pivot. It is easily the worst, most disorganized company I’ve ever seen. Complete political mess, overworked staff, underpaid talent, and zero actual care for the client.

They wanted my C-level global accounts, but every time I opened a door, CDW failed to execute. I was constantly apologizing to clients, trying to force a transactional CDW box-checker brand into spaces handled by Accenture, Deloitte, and Wipro. The capability just isn't there.

Also, I started seeing some of our greatest talent walk out the door. One office had 7 Client Executives walk out the door in one day!

They ended up cutting me and keeping an inside AM who was just promoted to CE. Good luck maintaining an executive position in these accounts! (Been with CDW for 10 years as an inside AM)

My manager was new to corporate accounts and you could hear him turning the pages to his “How to be a CDW Manager binder”… LOL He wanted to surround himself with reps that don’t intimidate him.

Getting released from this place is the first time I’ve been able to breathe in months. The relief is real. If you have a solid enterprise background, don't waste your time or risk your reputation here.

What kind of a company hires someone to work for a C-Level person and then includes them in a layoff 2 months later???? A really horrible company, that's who. Yes. This really happened at CDW last week. I would warn everyone to stay away from this place. You will never find a more wretched hive of sc-m and villainy.

I quit before all this mess started.

I value my mental and physical wellbeing more than the peanuts Liz is enticing Sales with.

I currently find all the LinkedIn posts funny and it's entertaining reading what people actually think (here) compared to their non anonymous fake messages there (LinkedIn).

Some good people are collateral damage it seems but looks like that's the only way to get rid of the d-mb, lazy, slow, and useless people.

The real popcorn is when C level and SVP's start posting. More VP's and directors need to be fired too.

---> How does one become a manager or higher in a sales org...when they never sold or were successful at selling???????????????

They did me a real favour cutting me loose with severence. I had time to breathe, take stock and find the most fu--ing AMAZING company to work for. I actually giggled when i was told the workload at the new place. What i am expected to do a week here was what i was expected to do a DAY at CDW, & for a good 8k less to boot!

@a1 This is very close to what I’ve heard from people still there.

The junior and mid level staff are shaken. They feel there is nothing they can do to meet a bar where they feel safe now given some of the talent that was let go this time. In many cases they also lost their mentor and escalation point.

Managers had little to no say in this. I’ve heard there is a lot of negativity at that level right now.

The word I have heard used by friends still there over and over is “uncomfortable”.

Finally, someone hits on the biggest problem. Client satisfaction and efficiency is not what it was 10 years ago. I am still here but they cut coworkers that were over performing my numbers. I was shocked I survived over them. They were older and yes, made more money so I guess I understand it. I am looking for a new job though because I too am explaining our company fu-k ups way too often and it gets worse every year.
