Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Where's the outrage outside of this forum?

I see people on this board agreeing about how bad things are, but in real life I work with people who don't seem to care. Nobody seems too worried about layoffs, the secrecy, or the eroding culture. How can anyone not be angry about this?

@OP people are scared to speak out, especially after reading all of these claims of retaliation for the Pulse Survey "confidential" and "anonymous" concerns. The Way Code doesn't seem relevant anymore if we are not free to speak up when something is not right. We were supposed to be supported if GOOD FAITH reports were submitted. Now, it seems like retaliation and ageism rules the day.

To whoever is reading this: OUR cooler heads will prevail here - be proactive, no matter how "safe" you feel right now.

Control what you can - this means, get your resume in order. I HIGHLY recommend having ChatGPT overhaul it (I know, I know, the AI component), but it is fast and highly effective.

Start networking with partners - you might find an amazing role you would have not been aware of otherwise.

Ask colleagues to complete LinkedIn recommendations for you.

Get back to basics here and start talking to your vast network of people.

I don't want more people to get caught off guard - with this AI push, I feel like we are training IT on our jobs so they can assess whether a human is necessary.

@sz

People show anger in different ways.

Quiet quitting is now a thing.

People find ways to manipulate systems to look like they're doing what they're told to.
Update Salesforce by just moving everything to the same day in the future to get it off the radar. Fake calls and quotes for efforts. Plenty more.

People can still get paid while doing less and caring less. If that's the culture leadership wants...that's what they're getting.

Keep making money and start looking elsewhere because they're not going to increase pay once they changed it ro bw lower.

People are outraged. You cant base it on just this website. Although i see it on this website. Look at glassdoor as well.

The culture at CDW has changed. When I kept my head down and worked the past 6 years, during the decline of the culture, I was fine. I felt happy. Coming here and I am upset. Trust me i am. This is not the same company. But, it provides what my family and I need. Therefore I choose to look at that and remain happy. If i get laid off, I am sure i will be outraged.

The changes are not fun with GTM and Salesforce and return pro and now use AI, layoffs. Its a huge change all at once. Back in my day, the saying of "how well do you adopt to change" was a thing. Well, here we are in a big change that is shocking. Adapt. Change your mindset. Is how to get through it.

We fill out surveys and nothing changes. You have to answer to what they want to hear, if you dont, they find out.

Overall, CDW has always been behind the times from what i have seen, especially being employed elsewhere. If this is the first full time job you ever worked, you will not know better.

I am not sure what else to say. Except be positive in where you can, and control where you can. We cannot control what C level or VPs do. But we can control how we handle that. Or just start looking for a new job. Keep in mind finding a new job can take 6 months to 18 months.

You first. Show your outrage. Lead by example. We’ll follow.

Because you’ve been gaslit into being part of the Allweather Team, and it’s just not very nice to be critical!

@a1 Why do they want to keep them if they're angry and unhappy?

It's very simple... Many CDW & CDW•G sales people simply aren't good at sales- they're good at processing transactions and operating within the "CDW Machine".
Don't conflate success at CDW for success in the real world. I see so many salespeople scared to leave CDW because they've convinced themselves CDW is this amazing company when in reality CDW no longer values coworkers and they get treated lilke cr-p.

So everyone has a choice to make...
Option 1: don't stand for the eroding culture, constant comp changes, changes to your book without your input (what happened to taking stakeholders into the decision process?), general cluelessness from leaders and go find a better opportunity outside of CDW.
Option 2: Admit to yourself that you need CDW more than they need you, stop complaining about the way they treat you and get used to taking it! Why be outraged if you aren't going to do anything about it?

I politely mentioned lack of direction and CL's less than reassuring company wide messages in my exit interview. That's where to put that.
Didn't they allegedly bully a guy into quitting for commenting on cuts and stagnant wages for coworkers but massive increase in CEO comp?

"why aren't people complaining more, when CDW just fired people for complaining?"

@a2
This is the current state of the company. Everyday coworkers arw upset and tired from the repeated gaslighting from leadeship ... BUT ... know opening their mouths isn't going to fix anything.

People see bringing issues to light doesn't gwt anything fixed since the same issues have been festering for years and are acknowledged and known about.

People are just keeping thier mouths shut to keep collecting diminishing paychecks.

Buts it's funny we keep getting asked about things that need improvement and they keep issuing anonymous surveys. At the same time they hired consultants that im.sure have advised of problem areas.

Interesting web of garbage decisions.

Notice how every linkedin post looks/sounds the same. Got to look positive to potential new companies.

@a1 This is it exactly and it depends on the personality of the team. I’ve heard some teams have been very vocal where others are trying to work through it.

Those vocal teams I’ve heard about likely stop at their manager though. I doubt many people have gone higher than that or across teams to people they don’t know as well.

If you mean within CDW - what is it you want people to do exactly? I'm pretty sure everyone is angry about it but people want to keep their jobs.
