Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The return of hans

Am hearing through the grapevine that the board is seriously considering making Hans ceo again after the Dan disaster show. Anybody else hearing this?

Next CEO will be Dan’s son or daughter.

Lot's of rumors about who is replacing Dan. I like to go on the record that after my RIF I do not have any interest nor will I be interviewing for next Vz CEO position.

I felt obligated to clear the deck!

Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Nelson Mandela and Hans vestberg all have the same credo and impact. The board will realize that paying Hans $26m a year as special advisor will sink the ship unless he is ceo again

@dd You forgot Bob Iger at Disney... his successor was disaster. He came to fix the company, then stepped aside.

Dan came in to fix what Hans broke.... no reason to bring him back after Dan makes his changes... Ericsson wasn't to eager to bring him back after they cut him loose.

Look for an external candidate. Maybe Sampath comes back? Maybe Stratton (who should have succeeded McAdams instead of Hans)?

@dd You cannot be serious!

1- Steve Jobs was a successful cofounder who launched the extremely successful Apple II, the original Mac, and the first personal laser printer. He then went on to start NeXT computers which became the foundation of MacOS and iOS. He then went on to start Pixar studios which was extremely successful. He was abrasive, and arrogant but he was an extremely successful entrepreneur nonetheless. Hans doesn’t compare.

2- Howard Schultz made Starbucks very profitable the dominant player in their niche.

Steve Jobs, Howard Schultz and Jack Dorsey all returned. Hans is next in line

@OP After the 2003 invasion of Iraq, a “Saddam will return…” graffiti appeared on a wall in Baghdad. Another graffiti artist wrote “thru my butthole!” right underneath it.

Seems relevant to the current discussion.

If the board actually chose that route, it would be a remarkably efficient way to showcase its own incompetence. That level of self-sabotage seems unlikely. Far more probable is that they will be quietly strip the company for parts and sold it off in due course.

@OP

1- CEOs who had a successful tenure are brought back in rare circumstances. For example, Steve Jobs at Apple. Hans’s doesn’t qualify as a successful tenure by any stretch of the imagination.

2- Somebody is pulling your leg. They don’t have connections at the BOD that are sharing gossip with them.

Won't happen. It would tank the stock below $40. If anything, Dan will leave before his 2 years is up.

No. Not gonna happen. Dan will continue to cut this company to the absolute smallest cost that can barely sustain the service, and then hand over to someone who gets to deal with the consequences. Likely Elon who will integrate the carcas into SpaceWhy

Hans had a vision, just not a good one. Dan is just using Wall Street buzz words like ai and layoff to move the stock price up, which it has not.
