Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What happens if you get laid off from Infosys

Is it just a straight up termination, or is there any kind of severance at all? I am afraid my group might be rebadged and wondering what to expect. Will there be any guaranteed period of continued employment?

@ac OP here. Perhaps you do not recall when all the wireline project managers were moved over to Infosys several years ago. They were neither in IT, nor were they from India. Such is my situation.

There typically is guaranteed employment for 12-24 months depending on what makes it into the contract. You can still be fired for cause but not laid off for no reason in that protected time period. That being said unless you want to strive for 50-60 hour work weeks in a consultancy type environment. There is virtually no upward mobility at these consulting firms. It’s kind of like working for the Big 4 in accounting. It’s promote up or get thrown out. So if that environment is not something you would strive under, it’s best to do your deliverables and nothing more. Then spend your free time up skilling and preparing for interviews. Also they only have to match within 10% of your base salary. Not your total compensation. So it will almost certainly be a pay cut. We already received a pay cut from the stock distribution deference. The end of the road is neigh unless you want to establish yourself as a consultant at these potential companies.
